Thought I'd put this in a separate topic

Why is this note so hard to get?! Is it just me?!

I can usually get up to C4 and can get the notes around it

No, it's not just you, Nat. (I'm assuming you mean flute.) Top E and top F# have an extra hole uncovered compared with the lower E and F# than other top notes do compared with their lower equivalents.

Most flutes have a 'split E' mechanism which closes one of those extra holes, making top E much easier to play. This leaves top F# as a tricky note, and, if you're approaching it from below, as in a G major scale, you can get away with playing top E with an incorrect embouchure (if you have a split E) which makes top F# seem comparatively more difficult.

Every flautist splits top F#s now and again, some of us more than others sad.gif .

You can try the alternative fingering if you're playing it forte or mf (it's a bit flat). Use you RH middle finger instead of ring finger, and put your little finger on the C# key. It's much more stable.

F#3 for me is my worst sounding note.

Which is entirely normal. smile.gif It ties with G#3 for me if I'm using the left hand only fingering.

F#3 is annoying but I can play it OK. Actually my worst is G#3.

Ahh! The dreaded F#3! Yep its just one of these really horrible notes. Although its much easier with lots of support from the diaphragm and as my teacher always tells me if youve got a good sound going at the botom then the top notes are so much easier (its true). ok ive not been much help but hey i thought id have ,y say anyway!
