I just had to add this reply to the origianl posting of this thread.
What a pity if pianodude `s teacher isn `t a professional. Would that not be a classic case of those who can `t do teach. I just wondered, pianodude (sorry to hear about your problem btw) do you see your teacher as professional pianist or only a teacher?

It's unlikely that k_pianodude will answer this question as the thread is 5 years old and k_pianodude hasn't been around since August 2005.
I've had professional teachers who didn't want to be professional performers, and I've had one professional performer who was an unprofessional teacher (IMO) and was only teaching for extra income. Give me the professional teacher over a professional performer-come-part-time teacher any time!
PS. I'm sure there are good performers-come-teachers around
