Hi everyone,

I do feel a bit of a plum asking this, but I have not been playing the piano very long and I as of yet have not mastered how to read music properly, but here goes.

Can anyone tell me the keys for Beethovens moonlight sonata, and I mean like b d g etc, as I said I cannot read music yet, but am mad keen to be able to play the 1st movement and I play by ear and it just do not sound right when I am playing it.

Please help or point me in the direction of where I can get the keys Janet and John style!!

And what octave do I start in because my keys always sound either too high or too low.

I am desperate to start playing this piece, driving me up the wall to be honest.

Many thanks in advance for any help giving, and I do feel humble in the presence of greatness and silly for asking but I am going mad, If someone could send me the list of keys that I am supposed to be playing I would be enternally grateful

Cheers,

If I remember -

first movement - C# minor

second movement - D flat

third movement - C# minor.

The first movement may seem easy because it's slow but it's difficult to play beautifully. Second movement you'll have to practice your octaves!
Third movement - no comment!

I think the 3rd movement's ridiculously hard..meh!

Hi

Instead of trying to play the original....C# Minor...FCGD# why not try an easier arrangement for the time being that may be found in various tutor books on the market?

The first two bars begin:

RH is G# (below middle C ) Middle C# then E....fingering 1 3 5

LH C# octaves and the second bar is B octave.

Cherries taste even better smile.gif

Good luck

If you feel like trying a modified version, there is an easier arrangement of the first movement in one of the Oxford Piano Time Classics books - I think it's the pink one - and if I remember correctly it's written not in the c# minor of the original, but in d minor.
