I use the Fiddle Time/Cello Times series by Kathy Blackwell. All the kids love the backing CD's and all the books runners, joggers and sprinter.

Are there any piano books of the same level for piano? I wish they would do a series for piano.

Can any body guide me to some piano music with CD backing for pre grade 1/grade 1 but not beginner.

Cheers

I don't know of any books for piano that come with a backing track. Alfred's basic and Pauline Hall's Tunes for 10 fingers have piano accompaniments written in for some of the pieces which if you were that way inclined, you could record onto a CD for your pupils.

There are piano beginner books with backing cds.
Don't use them so can't really help out with titles but I have seen a few when browsing large music stockists.

I think one reason I never really consider them is that people may have out of tune pianos.....

You'll find most of the Hal Leonard books do. So do the Piano adventure series and a lot of the Alfred books. They are also available with midi.

I prefer to use midi backings if I'm going to use a backing, as I can adjust the speeds. Don't use it often though, it really depends on the child, but I use backing extensively at school with my recorder players and they love them.

It's really good for getting them to keep up and reach the required tempo if you feel that they are able. Some children get locked into a certain tempo and it's hard to kick them out of the habit.

This child has sat the prep test and is working on grade 1 but wants some fun easy pieces to play along to a CD that has drumming just like the jogger/runner CD's.

His brother learns the cello and has great fun playing along to the CD why cant we have the same for piano.

I have already search the music shop but it is hard to know what is on each CD without prior knowledge. Isnt there anyone here that has used anything similar?

The duet teacher parts are excellent in the lesson but during the week it is fun to play independantly with a CD too.
