Does anyone know where I can get hold of the syllabi (syllabuses?) for previous years? (oboe specifically). I'm just trying to get an idea of which pieces are suitable for which grades, and only being able to look at the current one on the ABRSM site is a bit limiting...

How about emailing the AB? They might have old copies or pre-print documents.

- At one time you could access at least the previous as well as the current syllabus on the website - I totally agree that old syllabi are useful resources and since they must exist for at least a while back in electronic for, maybe the ABRSM could be persuaded to make them accessible again from the webpages???

Tried it. They weren't very helpful! They said they only keep copies for themselves, and didn't seem to want to do me a photocopy... unsure.gif

Don't really see why they can't put them on the web. Shall we start a campaign?! mad.gif

Have a look here, Claire21. It's the list Edexcel use for assessing the difficulty of A level performance, and is collated from a series of syllabuses. It's not quite what you're looking for, but it might fill in a few gaps.

Which instrument in particular are you looking for? If you've got old piano exam books there used to be a list inside the front cover of all the other grade pieces for that year. At least they did until 1998, and then they changed to the new style exam syllabus, after which you only get the pieces for that particular grade. You could maybe try getting hold of old pre-1998 exam books from Ebay - just one per year and that would give you the whole lists for that year. Unfortunately I can't suggest anything else if it's not the piano you're looking for! (And I've just realised I've binned my syllabus from 1999-2000!! Aargh!)

Hi all,

I have a good collection of past piano exam syllabus. It took me a long time to keep an eye on any auction website that I did purchase a pile from it.

Agreed with all other contributors, I think the information is a powerful source. In fact, I've tried to ask for help in the forum from it was built.

Now, I have the year from 1976 to present syllabus. But I am sure the file which appears above is also of great help.

I looked at the Edexcel site mentioned above - great listings! - but does Edexcel or someone else also have a similar piece/grade list for French Horn?

Thanks
