You put "saz" instead of "saz"? tongue.gif

I had the exact same problem! When I had my braces put on, it was so painful to play my clarinet, as it kept on rubbing inside my bottom lip and I kept on getting lumps. But I got used to it after a while - it's just like everything else when you get braces; you get used to eating and brushing your teeth with them, so you can get used to playing the saxophone with them.

So don't worry - it'll solve itself in a while. I took about a week or so to get used to it.

Yeah I was meant to have them but I kicked up a *huge* fuss because I thought it would be too painful. But I think it was because I was playing with my lip over my top teeth which is probably why I thought it would be too painful

So as long as you don't play like that I think it will be ok!

Yes, you'll get used to it - my daughter has had braces of various kinds for nearly 2 years and her mouth was sore after playing for a while. It improved after a couple of weeks.
Her braces are coming off the day after tomorrow and she's now worried that she won't be able to play her sax without them!!!!! smile.gif

I don't play a woodwind instrument so I'm not familiar with your problem specifically, but I do wear braces and have had some problems with soreness. You might try putting wax on the brackets that cause the soreness, at least while playing.

How long have you had the braces? You could take the mouthpiece to the ortho, and show them where it's rubbing. My son plays sax and had braces for 18 months, but he got used to it after a month or so.

don't worry.

it is actually harder to play the flute with braces than the sax. Trust me i know. But wat you should do is go to the store and get some wax for you braces. It really helps. Just put it onto the part of your barces tat is rubbing on your lip and then your lip will slide right over it.
