I found out recently that there was a bass flute so i was wondering if anybody played it and if it was easier/harder to play than the normal flute.

No, I don't have one, but love them!
I have also played one before. They are not that hard, same fingering, but it is very heavy, and your fingers are more spread out. But, it is just like playing a daddy flute. If you have the opportunity play one!
They are expensive though :-|

If anyone is in the Fleet area of Hampshire on Saturday 15th October you might get a chance to try one at the Fleet Flute Festival (do not attempt to say this out loud

). If anyone would like details of this, run to raise funds for the new classrooms at our local Infant School, then drop me a pm and I'll send you details. Minimum age 10, minimum standard Grade 3-4.

I've played at bass flute at flute ensemble! My hands are quite small so I had trouble holding it and the curved head thing was a little odd too. It took me ages to get a decent sounding note out of!

I've played one. Flute choir has 2, although I've never played one in a concert

The curved headjoint takes a bit of getting used to!
