Hi everyone

Just realised that there's only a week and a half to the Concert.

Anyone else finding the stage fright/nerves kick in yet?

Anyone else excited at the thought of meeting other adult musicians?

Cheers

Katyjay

I'm terrified!!!

But really looking forward to meeting everyone.
Will email a few details some time this week to (hopefully) make sure everyone knows what is what.

Terrified too.....

..and I'm starting to make mistakes in bits of my piece that were fine a while ago...EEEEK!!

janexxx
What do you call a mixture of terrified and excited? Terricited? Excified? No I think its Panic!!

Well the best thing is we are all friends together and no-one is going to "mark" the performance and pass or fail us, so we should just be able to relax and enjoy it.

Now where is that jar of spreadable Valium for my toast???

Maybe it is over practice, have a break for a day from it.

Good luck to you all, I am not coming, I don't live in the NW, but I wish you all the best biggrin.gif You're brave just to perform!
sbhoa
Thank Nicki.
janexxx
Yes thanks Nicki, good to know you will be rooting for us.

Know just how everyone feels -I played my piece to perfection a week ago - then I realised how close the concert was and it went to pieces!

I plan to introduce mine as a 'work in practise' in the hope that pauses and mistakes will be ignored/forgiven!

I hope to see reports of how well it has gone; only if I don't reply, it isn't because I am ignoring you - on tour next week.
How many people are playing?

They're not pauses and mistakes....they are INTERPRETATION biggrin.gif tongue.gif

Guess I use an awful lot of "interpretation" in my practice sessions?!!!!! hehe.

Seriously tho... We're all learners together so if anyone is worried their performance won't be at their normal standard I'm sure everyone will understand and sympathise .... unless we're too busy telling them they're wrong cos it sounded great, which is easily possible as there's no-one worse than ourselves at being critical of our own playing. (omg can anyone understand what I'm trying to say here? There must a better way of putting it?)

Of course I can talk.... I'm not playing. wink.gif

There are 15 performances, a few more than that playing as there are 2 duets and a guitar ensemble.
Thanks for your good wishes and I hope you enjoy the tour and make some new friends.

Here's to some interesting interpretation..... cool.gif

Snuglivixen, of course I understand what you are saying... blink.gif
janexxx
Just been practising and my "interpretation" is different each time (ie I go wrong at different places!!)

I think I belong to the Eric Morcambe school of music.....(all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!!!)

Oh well, best get back to perfecting my recital!!!

If anyone needs a page turner Semele is prepared to cover this job.
Just ask on the day.

Wow, it sounds very good smile.gif. The tour should be good, but quite hard, since the band we've joined with have played this hard music for a year and my band people have had like 1 hour on the pieces!

5 day countdown...... are you all panicking? My butterflies think they're bats!!! wacko.gif

Sooooooo looking forward to it thoough. biggrin.gif

Good luck to everyone who's performing at the North-West concert on Saturday! I shall be on my clarinet course at the time, but I think there are computers there so I'll be able (hopefully, if they're working!) to find out how it all went afterwards. biggrin.gif

Sorry Christine. Suitably chastened, Suzy goes and sits quietly in the corner. unsure.gif

I think I've managed to avoid this by not actually being able to play my piece until about two weeks ago laugh.gif. I can play it now though. at least I can at home with no one listening.... I'm more nervous since I read this thread though; this is the shortest time I've ever learnt a piece in to perform so I hope it's not too short! Good luck to everyone anyway and I look forward to meeting you all there smile.gif.

Since last week none of my piano students is allowed to leave until I have played to them as preparation for playnig to an audience.
It's getting a bit better each time.
Performance is NOT my strong point.
Semele
To You!

...and yes! I know you are nervous, but you will be fine.

Get the table for you on Sunday minus 15% smile.gif

Excellent idea! Like so many other things, performance improves with practice, so keep making the most of your captive audience. smile.gif

I'm really sorry I can't go and listen to your concert - my husband and I really enjoyed the Chertsey one. There was a real buzz, and everyone was totally supportive of the performers. I'm sure yours will be the same. Best wishes to everyone concerned.
