The one thing I have noticed since Alan Pardew took over is that there appears to be a lot more committment and belief amongst the players now, and that has hopefully given us a (small) chance to avoid the trapdoor to the Championship.

Here's hoping smile.gif........

Afraid I won't be cheering for you on Tuesday, though. sad.gif

Loads of games seem to have been abandoned, especially in the Non-league fixtures. Even the Watford-Wigan game is affected! ohmy.gif

2-1 to Man Utd at the moment...mellow.gif

Leicester's game is running 45 minutes late. They are currently losing 2-0 away at Southampton.

Still can't believe Reading are in the top half of the table!

Mind you, Arsenal are unbeaten at the Emirates, but sometimes football is unpredictable (like the Southend v Man Utd match).

Indeed it is. 2 goal difference now in the favour of Charlton.

Macclesfield won again - looks like they may do well against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

I listened to the radio commentary last night. It was slightly embarrassing. Scott Carson played a blinder though. It's interesting how many times Arsenal's opponents' goalkeeper is made MOM - playing against the likes of Henry seems to bring out the best in them. ohmy.gif

So, how do you think your team will do in the FA Cup 3rd round? Who do you think will get the shock results? My predictions are:

Car Expert's Selected FA Cup 3rd Round Predictions

Barnet v Colchester
I reckon there will be a shock home victory in this match. Both teams are doing well this season, but I feel Colchester's away record will let them down.

Prediction: 2-1

Chelsea v Macclesfield
Chelsea haven't been doing well during the festive period and they are now further and further away from clinching the title for the third season in a row.

Macclesfield have had a terrific season of late under Paul Ince, and they've won 8 out of their last 10 games, and are unbeaten in those last 10 games, yet they are still in the drop zone on goal difference. I just feel they will get something from this game and earn a replay at Moss Rose.

As for the score: two Conference sides held Manchester United to goalless draws in the last two seasons. Chelsea's last results in the league were 3-2, 3-2, 2-2, 2-2 and 0-0. You do the maths! wink.gif

Prediction: 0-0

Doncaster v Bolton
This is a big game for Doncaster at their new Keepmoat Stadium. They had a terrific result against Huddersfield on Monday, but I feel Bolton will have that edge to progress to the 4th round.

Prediction: 1-2

Leicester v Fulham
Leicester had a good result last season in the FA Cup, after coming from two goals down to beat Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Fulham haven't had good cup runs recently, losing to Leyton Orient in the FA Cup last season, and Wycombe in the Carling Cup this season.

Considering that and Fulham's away record, I think Leicester will nick the win here.

Prediction: 2-1

Liverpool v Arsenal
Yep, it's the big match. Both teams meet again in the Carling Cup quarter-final (take 2) on Tuesday, and they will go into this match knowing that a defeat would ruin their 'good' chances of doing well in the FA Cup.

Both teams are unbeaten at their home grounds, so I'll have to go for a Liverpool win, but it will be a very tight and exciting affair.

Prediction: 2-1

Nottingham Forest v Charlton
Both of these teams endured away thrashings in their last games, but I think this will be a good game nevertheless.

Four weeks ago, I would've predicted a Nottingham Forest win. But Charlton have improved slightly, and Nottingham Forest are on a bad run, so I'll go for Charlton.

Prediction: 0-1

Peterborough v Plymouth
I think Plymouth will go safely through to the 4th round, as they have a good away record.

Prediction: 0-2

Reading v Burnley
I'm glad we've got Burnley at home in the FA Cup. At least it's a team we've been used to in the Championship, and not a team who we've lost to in the past this season such as Arsenal or Portsmouth.

As long as Steve Coppell doesn't rest too many of his good players (like he usually does rolleyes.gif), Reading should cruise safely to the next round.

Prediction: 3-0

Tamworth v Norwich
For the second year running, Tamworth have made it to the 3rd round of the FA Cup, and were very unluckly to lose to Stoke last season. They now face similar opposition in the form of Norwich, whose away form in the league has been OK, but not great.

I think Tamworth will earn the replay at Carrow Road they deserve.

Prediction: 1-1

West Ham v Brighton
West Ham haven't been doing well recently. They've conceded 9 goals in their last 3 games, and haven't won since beating Manchester United.

Brighton haven't had a good run of results either, losing their last 4 games, and winless in 5. Brighton have scored 11 goals in the last two FA Cup rounds, even though they were against non-league opposition.

As a result, I feel Brighton will produce a shock victory, and make the Hammers fans even more angry.

Prediction: 0-1

Cardiff v Tottenham
This is a bad time for Cardiff to be playing Premiership opposition in the FA Cup. They are now winless in 10 games, 7 of which have been draws.

Tottenham's away form is poor, but they should win this match.

Prediction: 1-3

The one thing I have learned as a Charlton fan is to deal with adversity. And we've had plenty of that through the years, including coming very close to losing our ground. Forever.

Relegation (which my heart says won't happen but my head says is inevitable) won't be the end of the world. Charlton have been through far worse. But we could at least show a bit of fight. At the moment too many of the players look as though they don't care, and I fear we and the other Premiership side guilty of this (West Ham) are heading straight for a stay in the fizzy pop league.......

Leicester got relegated a few years ago and we're still alive and kicking biggrin.gif
