Hmm. We'd need a win at Newcastle, a draw someonewhere else and would still be dependent on Hull getting 0 points from all their remaining games, the Mags picking up fewer points than us (our goal difference is awful sad.gif so being level on points isn't enough) and the Baggies getting no more than 5 points...

I've been trying to stay optomistic, but I think we're gone... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif
ChevvyChev
I'm hoping for Newcastle and Sunderland losses tomorrow and a Hull loss on Monday too.

Cannot believe just how many missed chances we had this afternoon sad.gif We were never expecting to walk away with any points today...but didn't expect to be quite so frustrated about how we played!

Tranmere blew a play off spot with 2 mins to go!! So we will play Charlton next season. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Well, this is it. By 15:10, Reading could be either celebrating promotion back to the Premier League or they could rue that bad run that has ruined our chances of automatic promotion.

I wouldn't want to make any predictions... it's anyone's guess as to who will go up...

But it doesn't look good for Reading at the moment even before kick-off as Shane Long appears to be our only fit striker...

EDIT: Ah no it's OK... Dave Kitson has been passed fit to start smile.gif

It looks like Reading have just scored, CE. You still have a chance. smile.gif

Birmingham are promoted. It's off to Burnley for us now in the play-offs...

Yep.

Thanks for getting yourself sent off, Joey Barton laugh.gif

Poor old Joey Barton rofl.gif

Aston Villa will certainly have a big say as to who will go down as they still have to play Hull, Boro and Newcastle.

Preston only just sneaked into the play-offs by one goal! ohmy.gif A 1-0 win for Preston would've been enough for Cardiff to sneak into the play-offs, but that one extra goal by Preston to make it 2-1 was just enough for them. Cardiff must now be thinking how costly that 6-0 defeat at Preston proved to be...wink.gif

3-0. biggrin.gif

I don't normally excited about Liverpool goals - but each one they can get will help us today. laugh.gif

Edit: 3-0 it is. biggrin.gif

Lets hope Villa can get that sort of score against Hull tomorrow. smile.gif

Are you are Reading fan too then? It was a shame they didn't win today, they certainly played better and had the chances to score.
fsharpminor
Well Barry, that was better from your team! My East Anglian in-laws (I'm here at the moment) aren't too happy though. So now Tranmere have both Norwich and Charlton next season.

Hello fellow Reading supporter! wave.gif

They did indeed - they had a great opportunity to go up automatically today but missed it...

The two games against Burnley will be tough - our record against them this season will be irrelevant as they played both games in October (when Reading's form was better), with home wins for both sides.

I follow Burnley a bit - in fact they were the first team I ever watched. They won the ' old' First Division in 1958-9 when I was 11 yrs old. Only quick hop over the hill from Keighley. Unfortunately in the wrong county.

Oooooh hooray for Liverpool!!! biggrin.gif (possibly the first and last time you'll ever hear me say that tongue.gif haha)

He's been suspended too now. laugh.gif

Villa beat Hull last night (although only by 1 goal sad.gif) so we're still 3 points behind Hull and level on points with Newcastle (albeit with a rubbish goal difference sad.gif).

If we can somehow manage to beat the Mags then we still have the slimmest of chances of staying up smile.gif - but I'm not feeling particularly hopeful... sad.gif

I think last night was the first time I've ever supported Villa - and I definitely will not be supporting them in two weeks time! laugh.gif
Babybird2
Joey Barton, eh... fully deserves being suspended. Alan Shearer was so angry at him laugh.gif

We've decided to go to the Villa match. Might be the last premier league home game for a while sad.gif

ohmy.gif West brom have won. That means that they are now level on points with us... sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Thankfully Hull lost, but it's looking very, very bleak for Boro. sad.gif

You'll be okay, Chev. smile.gif There's no way that either Newcastle or Boro are going to win all their remaining games - and that's the only way you could be in danger. I know you still didn't want to lose a winable game though...
ChevvyChev
Yeh have just studied the table, and it's highly highly unlikely we'll go down...but none the less, it's still possible and that's enough to make me frustrated that we didn't win today when it really counted, in effectively what was a 6 point game!
Mind you we've another with Sunderland next weekend, so if we can win that, we're all good! and it's unlikely they'll beat Chelsea to overtake us...I hope!

But Flossie, West Brom are all but down, they might be equal on points now, but you're a game in hand and they're never going to beat Liverpool, are they? unsure.gif If you guys can win against Newcastle, and scrape a point or two from your other matches, then you do still stand a chance...Unlikely that hull will get 6 points with a Man U fixture...I'll be routing for you guys anyway biggrin.gif And hopefully Fulham will really lay into Newcastle for you, get their goal difference a bit more in your favour!

fingersCrossed.gif all round!

Hull have now turned into Raikkonen from the Spanish GP qualifying today. They get to 27 points by Christmas, think they are more or less safe, and they have ended up now relying on everyone else to slip up to preserve their Premier League status. They needed to win against Stoke, but that defeat now gives Middlesbrough (and dare I say Newcastle as well wink.gif) a real chance of staying up.

I still reserve full judgment that West Brom will go down. Despite that win against Wigan (which was more or less expected really), they still need 4 points from somewhere, and I can't see at least one of those points coming against Liverpool next weekend. But they should challenge for promotion again next season.
