8pm on friday - only 3 days. I'm kind of excited and nervous at the same time. A bit worried about how thin our squad is, and Sheffield United is probably the worst team for us to have to start against. Would have preferred a winable, confidence-building fixture...

I've got quite a soft spot for Darlington. I think it's probably to do with them very much being a local team but not (at the moment) being close enough to Boro in the league to really be a rival team. Lots of our players get loaned to Darlo as a stepping stone after the academy. Middlesbrough is my team but Darlo probably occupies the position of 2nd team for me (if that's allowed). I certainly keep an eye on how they do although my heart is with Boro.

It's allowed Flossie. I guess, thinking about it, that my 2nd team is Ebbsfleet United : now there's an interesting team...

It's occurred to me that I haven't seen Chevvy Chev on here for ages? I mean on the forum generally, not just on this thread.

A decent start for Derby - we usually lose on the first day of the season!

No, its not too good is it. Oh well, most teams drew. We're only near the bottom of the table because of alphabetical order.

We're near the bottom because there weren't any goals in the game (unlike Preston and Bristol City who are 6th and 7th respectively as they drew 2-2).

Hopefully we'll see some more encouraging signs against Burton tomorrow...

England created some great passages of play with the finish a bit wild tbh. They also made some shocking errors to allow Holland to score twice.

I reckon a draw is a fair score and I would have taken it before kick off.

Most importantly, Robert Green put in a decent performance tonight despite conceding two goals (both of which he couldn't do much about).
