My sister supports Newcastle, and she's convinced the away kit is beautiful, just from loyalty to the club. My mum thinks that Reading's new away kit looks like a Waitrose plastic bag!

She has a point wink.gif

The away kit looks a bit like girly pyjamas. unsure.gif

Boro's away kit that is.

I like it laugh.gif

I haven't read all this thread...but do we have any Liverpool supporters in the house?

I supported them years ago in their heyday of Keegan, Toshack, Dalgleish et al.

Only keep a vague eye on their performances nowadays. Now my daughter is getting older, she may want to come to a match with me....one lives in hope. Or maybe a weekend with granny could be on the cards..

I'll see what bribes I can come up with.

I'm starting to like it more now that I've got over the initial surprise at the girly colour. laugh.gif It's a shame they haven't put the white band on like our home kit has, but the away colours would certainly look better on me than the red.

I keep an eye on Liverpool as well Justin, but as I live on the Wirral, Tranmere are nearer to me.
Despite being a Yorkshireman the first team I ever watched were Burnley, (not too far over the hill from my home town of Keighley) , when they won the 1st Div (now Premiership) in 1959-60.
But they will struggle in the Premiership this season, they'll do well not to go back down. As my company is Yorkshire based, most of my colleagues support Leeds, who I think will run away with Div 1 this season.

Rats. Liverpool lost. Maybe becuase they made decent signings in the summer, just replaced outgoing players. As usual. Rafa buy at least 1 top quality player this season.

Can't stand football mad.gif

A game(?) consisting of a bloke with an earpiece and whistle (who gets sworn at in every language spoken) by 22 overated, overpaid bunch of woosy blokes kicking an inflated leather bladder around some grass (or Astroturf) who start crying the moment they trip over ....and then there's the several thousand referees/team managers watching at the match and on TV, shouting their opinion as to what should or shouldn't have happened.

Not only badly behaved on the pitch but also badly behaved off it - usually in drunken fights at pubs and nightclubs... and that's both the players and the spectators!

Real 'men' play rugby.

What's that saying?

"Football is a gentleman's game played by thugs.
Rugby is a thug's game played by gentlemen."

biggrin.gif

Not a fan of Rugby really though. Given the choice, I'd rather watch Ice Hockey over and above everything else. I miss the London Knights sad.gif

Ahaaa a fellow hockey fan! biggrin.gif I used to play for the Bracknell Queen Bees and was a Bracknell Bees supporter for over a decade.

While the womens team improved, the mens team went downhill. Unfortunately, support both financial and from the fan base, just isn't strong enough in this country - which surprises me given the fact that the sport is famed for on-ice punch ups of the sort footy fans would adore dry.gif

Bracknell nearly went down the pan entirely for this coming season and even now it's still a bit 'on the edge' shall we say sad.gif

If you've ever been fortunate enough to watch NHL hockey live in the flesh, then you'll know that the UK game is rather errr, pedestrian, by comparison.....

I'm looking forward to the 2010 Winter Olympics, the hockey is the one thing I will always watch.

We're not top anymore. Cardiff beat Bristol City 3-0 to go back to the top.

Newcastle are still getting all the attention though for some reason - but that maybe suits us as we don't want teams pinching our best players.

Well here we go next Saturday Barry. We only have three points so far having lost to Leeds and MKDons, though beaten Colchester 4-2.
We seen to have had all the good teams first, but I really am not confident about beating Charlton !

Indeed fsharpminor biggrin.gif

Tranmere do seem to have had a rough deal with their first few fixtures. The Colchester result was a good one for you though.

The handbell day ends at 4pm, so I will be checking the Tranmere-Charlton final score when it happens! biggrin.gif

Boro seem to have forgotten where the goal is. sad.gif

On a positive note, though, Huth and Weater are both playing which means that they are now cup tied. Hopefully that might put other teams off trying to buy them. smile.gif
