The BBC have done an absolutely appalling job of today's match report.


1) We have never had a goalkeeper by the name of Luke Steele. Luke Steele is Barnsley's keeper, and has been for years. Our first team goalie is a 20 yr old Boro lad, Jason Steele.
2) Jason Steele sadly went off injured in the first half and was replaced by our 18 year old academy goalkeeper, Conor Ripley. At the point when they start mentioning our goalkeeper in the report, they not only have the wrong Steele - they have the wrong goalie altogether as it's Ripley in goal.

Come on BBC, you should be able to do a better job than that.

The loss of our goalkeeper really didn't help our cause.

We need a new goalie for tuesday now. If we don't have one, we will have our academy goalkeeper in goal and probably a junior on the bench.

Don't worry - I promise you we'll not score.

You could pretty much walk the ball into goal the way things are at the moment...

Who can we get as an emergency loan goalie? Any ideas?

Middlesbrough are a shambles, sad to say. Only good thing to say is that Preston and Sheffield United look even more of a shambles, and will probably take care of two of the three relegation slots. Scunthorpe's win yesterday only adds to the pressure...

They've slightly improved the match report - they've got Steele's first name correct now, but still no mention of Conor Ripley...

I think they're stretching the statistics rather though, and have forgotten that the three main North East teams have good academies which nurture local talent. Similarly Reading have an interest in their academy and local area, which could account for Berkshire's position - as could its proximity to London and the academies there.

I don't know much about him, but hope he will do a decent job. I'm relieved we have managed to get someone in. Didn't fancy our chances of avoiding the drop with only an academy keeper and no keeper on the bench...which is what we would have had tonight. Ripley is promising, but has no experience. I'm sure he will make a very good keeper in the future, but he needs time and space to develop - and throwing him into a relegation scrap for his first taste of professional football would be a hard ask.

What's the betting that Boydy now starts banging in goals for Forest?

I think it could be a good deal for all the parties involved - that it works.

The Paul Smith in question actually started his career at Charlton (although never played for them). In 2004, Premiership side Southampton signed him from Brentford for 500,000 GBP, but only made 16 appearances for them in a two year spell. Then in 2006 he signed for Forest, again for 500,000 GBP.

I think so. I don't actually remember the way match but we always lose away to them...and I think they've blurred together.

The away match was played in October - the game after Gordon Strachan's departure - and yep, as you guessed, it was a 1-0 defeat.

Darlington score two late goals to go 2-0 up at half-time against Gateshead. These two teams will face each other again twice in the next two games in the FA Trophy semi-finals over two legs for a place in the final (not at Wembley of course but at Old Trafford due to the Champions League final).
