We've been playing with four centre-backs for a few weeks. Trouble is, one of those (Vermaelen) keeps picking up knocks. We also have the rather better headache of trying to work out where to put Wilshere, who it seems is recovering much faster than expected.

Was at the Valley for Charlton's 1-1 draw against Bury last night.

A point gained in the end, rather than two lost, I feel. We had most of the possession, and plenty of shots on goal, but Bury did the '10 behind the ball' job very well, and managed to score on the counter (error from our goalie ). This meant we got 'his name is a shop, his name is a shop, Lemel John Lewis, his name is a shop' sung at us from the Bury fans (to the tune of Sloop John B)...

The equaliser on 93 minutes was a stunner though and we're now 10 points clear after Sheffield Wednesday also failed to win

Oh, and at least two Bury fans took their shirts off...

I suspect the England job will go to Harry, but I wouldn't rule Stuart Pearce out either, especially as a long-ish term caretaker manager, to get through the Euros.

I just wonder if the FA will shy away from appointing a forthright character like Harry. They may be scared stiff of him. Roy Hodgson would do a good job I think, far less controversial, but Stuart Pearce may be worth a go.

Im Scotland always keep an eye on St Johnstone. Its the only match I have been to in Scotland but I found myself staying at a hotel in Perth one night, and early in the evening the Rangers tream were having a light meal.
So I went to the match. Early season Scottish League Cup, as it was at the time. St Johnstone 0-1 Rangers.
But when I was very small and Dad had the football results on the radio (before we got a tele) I used to hoot with laughter when Hamilton Academicals came up.
