I have had my violin absolutely ages, but my pegs are still slipping when I tune huh.gif and then it affects the others. unsure.gif Am I doing something wrong?

Helen we have already had a post on slipping pegs so take a look back a couple of pages.

You have to push then in as you turn and be careful to tune up to the note otherwise you can easily break a string.

And a dab of peg dope might help if all else fails!

Are you sure the pegs are slipping? It's not a case of a tailgut problem or a matter of trying to use metal strings without adjusters, by any chance? Just wondering.

Peg dope comes in a little tube rather like a lipstick, you lubricate the pegs with it and it miraculously either gets them to shift if they are stuck or stops them slipping.

best to use some when you change the strings to keep the pegs ok. Do you have a problem with ALL of them or just one or a couple?

If you haven't used the fiddle in a while it might just be because of that
