In Forlana - number 4 of Finzi's 5 Bagatells
2 bars before figure 2, where it has Eb, C, Db , Eb,- what left/right fingering do you use for that?! Am I missing something here, because to me it doesn't look as if it's playable without moving one little finger in the same side
If that makes sense?!

I would go RH Eb, RH C (slide over) LH Db, RH Eb

I have pencilled in to play C LH, then add RH C on the tie over the bar. There is plenty time to add the right hand while still holding the left, and take that away to play Db when required.

I'm lucky as I have an additional Eb key on the left side, so I don't need to switch fingers across. It took a bit of getting used to though.

Lucky you!
I don't have it with me now, but I think when I tried it yesterday I did what you did neil- change fingers on the tie

That extra Eb key would be very useful. I don't have it. I think all professional models should have this. Is that a Prestige you have Appassionata?

Yes I have an R13 Prestige - I love it!!!
I think Leblanc Opus clarinets also have the additional Eb key, but Yamahas and Selmers don't generally.
P.S. I will answer your PM Neil - I haven't forgotten!

I knew you wouldn't forget. I know you are busy.
I have a Vintage R13. It's amazing apart from the absence of that key. Can't have everything I guess!

Is this extra Eb on the left hand set of keys?

Yes that's right, it's positioned above the B and C# keys on the left.

I remember doing Carol for 1st year Standard Grade music, Prelude for proper Standard Grade recital, and Fughetta for 1st year university. Carol is a good one to start with, finishing with Fughetta. Rest are all about grade 6 I think. I've yet to play all 5 from start to finish as a performance, something I might try soon.

I do like Carol, it's on of the 1st pieces I did on clarinet. It's easy and cute!
