I am bad by ignoring my regular posting here but I've been practising erm...alot! So I've cut my internet time down.

I can play the D major scale now!

How I find the viola so far:

1) It's fun
2) I love the bowing thing but sometimes when I concentrate on the fingerings, my bowing goes funny
3) I'm the only violist in the music centre where I'm having lessons LOL! But I am not bothered by that.
4) 2 of my viola strings broke - my teacher lent me an A string and my G string snapped when I was trying to tune it. My D string is about to snap

It is hard finding viola strings where I live because not many people play them. One shop even never sold violas or anything related to violas! I had to order some strings through post

Overall viola playing verdict: 11/10

Good for you!

I can't wait to be able to start learning, (although cello is for me. I'd rather play viola than violin though.....), and it all looks so deliciously difficult. I like a challenge!!!

you should try it on a harp, makes you jump out of your skin!

I know! I broke my A string on my violin not a long time ago and I've still got that little cut on my forehead where it hit me when it snapped.

Crumbs! What happens when one breaks a cello string!!??

But how disconcerting when your g-string goes ping in the middle of a soiree at which you're playing. A restaurant or somewhere.
This hot weather and everything.....
It's more prudential to tune it to A double-flat....

Oh but thank god the strings didnt hit my face or something...it just snapped at the top. I think when the G one snapped, it hit my neck but it wasnt too serious.
