Oh dear, am getting rather sick of my pieces. And pardon the pun:- they are all going to pieces as well. I used to be able the play everything much better than now! And I wonder why myself. I have no clue. *Sigh...

I often feel the same, I have a solo to do in 3 days and it's just getting worse and worse! Normally to overcome this I try not to practise too much, with only 8 days til the exam they should be almost ready, so just a run through with only a few minutes work on each piece shuold be sufficient for each session. Also, try to think of the positive areas of the performance, this will help you to be more confident in the exam.

And if that doesn't work, just try "well there's only 8 days to go, I might as well work on them a bit more so that I can give it my best shot", there's nothing worse than missing out on a merit or distinction (or even a pass) because you've let your performance slip in the last week before the exam.

Exam pressure and longing for a good result. Play a few other pieces you like, to relax in the musical situation. Reduce the pressure if you can - decide that if you fail, so what? You'll take it again. Remember to smile as you enter the exam room, to yourself as much as the examiner.

Or try to think it this way: that you are going into the exam room to perform some pieces to someone whom you don't know, asking them for their feedback. Not that they are going to examine you. tongue.gif And, since you are a piano teacher, normally sight-reading and aural won't be a problem for you, so don't worry too much!

Thanks! Good advice. I think I'll opt for the latter, AllGoodAndSmiley, because it's true I haven't been practicing much in June. Of course, I won't do more than an hour each day. But I think it's time to run through the pieces a few times, the whole piece, because I have only been concentrating on getting the bad parts good the week before last.
Haha.. yes, but even piano teachers wonder sometimes, 'now, which finger was that high C supposed to go on??' Hee hee... to save myself sometimes I just use ANY finger to get at the note. laugh.gif And would you believe it for aural, I sometimes don't remember what I'm supposed to do, because so happened this year, I only have ONE Grade 4 student, so I hardly touched the Grade 4 aural tests. However, I'm confident that I'll be able to do them anyway, thank God! blink.gif biggrin.gif
