*sigh* why do some people get all the talent while us mortals have to slog through every grade?! sad.gif Seriously though well done! smile.gif
july
Wow, that's really brilliant!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
*would throw a party for you if I wasn't in Germany*
Yay, you have every reason to be very very proud of yourself!!!
You can add another line to your signature now:
Grand mistress of the great saxophone! tongue.gif laugh.gif biggrin.gif
flutey toot
This reminds me of the fact dear mama likes to let me know that she reached Grade 8 after 2 years of playing the flute. mad.gif
I think playing another instrument beforehand can SOMETIMES help, especially if it is related in some way. But hey, I like the softly softly approach and did every single grade from Prep Test to Grade 8 on the piano in 7 years. And Im proud of that!! (even if i failed my aurals in grade 8 oops!!!)
tamsin
Well done Natalie.

And if I ever hear you mention the word "fail" again, I claim first chance to kill you. Though I suspect there might already be a queue... dry.gif

I don't have talent! Just an amazing and insane teacher, and I practice a lot!
noodle
Come on Nat, don't put yourself down. You are talented - you just won't believe it. I wonder what your teacher would think of being called insane....
saxlover
Oh she knows what I think of her!! tongue.gif laugh.gif
noodle
I thought she might!

come on Nat, you DO obviously have talent - so there! tongue.gif practice counts for a lot, but just doing lots of practice wouldn't have got you that far without talent too in such a short space of time.

Curious - how much practice do you think you have done over the past 10 months on sax? I mean, how much on average did you practise every day, for example? (approximately, I don't suppose you lept a log laugh.gif)
saxlover
No I didn't keep a log! But I did almost every day about an hour, maybe a bit less when I was doing grade 5, but when I was doing grade 8 it was about 2 hours on weekdays , some days I couldn't do any because of school coursework, but then I did loads 4 hours possibly on weekends
Katet
Well done! Thats ace, i hope i do that well when i finally get round to doing it! *claps*

That is dedication!

You deserved to do well. And once again there's proof that practising will help you go far! smile.gif (I still contend you must have been talented in the first place though nat, look at all the instruments you play and how far you have come in the last year or so - be very proud of yourself, you deserve to be! smile.gif
elmo
I've already told you a million times that it's fantastic! (well 3 times anyway!)

I had a thought earlier, I got the right set of numbers, but in the wrong order! tongue.gif
saxlover
Thanks Sarah! smile.gif

It didn't feel like I was practising though, I just played because I loved it and enjoyed it, so doing my exam stuff wasn't a chore. So even though I was practising I didn't exactly call it that, I just played and often!!
violinandpianogurl
