Are there any guitarists out there? Any who's taken exams recently or are about to?

Please share tips and thoughts about guitar playing in general here. Not just classical either

I play electric, acoustic and classical guitar. Just to get a "balanced diet" you know? And have been playing for nearly 4 years.

I live in hong kong and sometimes in England, bucks.

Hey there - I am a guitarist of pretty much all genres, electric and acoustic. I haven't done any exams coz I'm too busy finishing up my piano grades, but I may look at tackling soe soon....How lon gyou been playing?

Here's a thought regarding exams, my first grade (grade 3), the examiner complained about lack of volume but gave me a distinction anyway, my second grade (grade 5) i sat right across the table from the examiner and yep no complaint about volume, passed with distinction. I think unless you are playing on a concert guitar designed by a Luthier, projection/volume is going to be a problem. So it makes sence to compensate for this, and yeah i know you can play loud on a production line guitar but this tend to make the guitar sound harsh and unappealing. Segovia was very particular about his guitars and spent many years addressing various problems with the guitar from tonal qualities/design to projection, his Luthier Ramirez complained Segovia was a difficult man to please. Segovia favoured spruce but did use cedar guitars his other main Luthier was Herman Hauser.

i've been playing for nearly 4 years... but i've had a lazy year half way through cus of university

yeah i'm trying as many styles as possible. Just come out of the heavy thing (not that i dont play it anymore) and i'm trying to really nail that blues tone and playing loads of funk now. Still trying to learn about latin stuff you know? trying to play a cuban groove to a drummer doing polyrhythm!?!? what am i supposed to do?

i play a aria ac80 it costs about 450pounds in england. what about you guys?
