Hey! I recently did my grade 4 piano, and am taking a break from exams for a few months now. My teacher told me to find a big book with loads of music in to start playing, but I have no idea what to get really! My teacher said I can get anything, but I don't know where to start as there are so many books in the music shop!! Does anyone have any ideas, or can recommend a good piano book for me, bearing in mind I'm about grade 4 standard (but could probably manage a grade 5-ish piece)? I'd quite like to learn lots of different pieces from different periods and styles, so are there any books with lots of different pieces in? Sorry about the long post!! Thank you!! Love Allie xoxoxoxox

Have a look at the Classics to Moderns series (and More C to M), published by Yorktown. Maybe books 4 and 5.

There's a huge book which has been in my music cupboard for years, called Tunes you've always wanted to play, published by Chester. Difficulty probably ranges from G3 to 5+, but it's hard to tell as the pieces are quite famous so tricky rhythms aren't so hard. It's got allsorts of different styles, JS Bach, traditional folksongs, Mozart, Debussy, even Gilbert and Sullivan...!

I quite like the songs from Romantic Pieces for Piano. I can't remember the exact name but that's close enough. They are probably easier than grade 4 but they're good and you might enjoy them.
