I am annoyed because my teacher gave me a tape to record all these pieces that were my level. She gave me the CD "Doodle and Flight" by Kirsten Spratt and told me to record the Reverie and Petite Valse by Caplet. I did so, and really enjoyed them, so I ordered this book of pieces which my teacher told me to get.
Looking at the sheet music, I obviously didn't record the right ones. Now, at the time I thought I did the right ones as they just listed the track names on the back not numbers. However, I came across the track listings for the CD and they were different to what was on the back of the CD:
"SPR1100 SPRATT Kirsten Doodle and Flight
Burton - Sonatina
Caplet - Reverie
Muczynski - Sonata
Martinu - Scherzo
Richardson - Sonatina
Caplet - Petite Valse
Hindemith - Sonate
Berkeley - Sonatina
Mower - Doodle and Flight "
On the back of the CD the 2 Caplets were together. Now, I love the pieces I have recorded but have no idea what they are. I think they may be the Martinu and Richardson although have no idea what these are like. Where can I get recordings of these?
Also, when I played the CD in the computer, it came up with more tracks than the CD said it had, so I am now very confused. It is my teacher's CD, so I can't re-record, and now I am not so sure that I like the Petite Valse. I feel abd because my Dad buys my music books.
Ok, this doesn't really ask any questions apart from does anyone have the CD and could tell me the track listings.

Nicki, I haven't got his CD, but I know, or have recordings of nearly all the tracks. If you describe the ones you have recorded I might be able to identify them for you.

I know it isn't Doodle and Flight or the Muczynski
Piece 1: Upbeat with solo flute. Gentle, slow. Then the piano bit gets more upbeat and jazzier chords for a couple of bars, flute stays same gentle pace. In the middle, the flute enters with very high notes, possibly B or Cs, then has several quicker runs. Ends slowly, possibly on an interval on 5th, last long note, quiet.
Piece 2: Jazzy, pattern with a series of 3 of the same notes repeated. Lots of fast downwards runs. Piano and flute share tune. Repeats tune.
I think they follow each other, or seperated by the Muczynski sonata.

Elimination time: it's not Hindemith or Berkeley. If the CD contains complete works it's pretty long. Can you remember if it was individual movements? Your mystery pieces may be two movements from the same work. I don't know the Richardson and this seems the likeliest candidate from your description - typical!

I'll have a hunt for it. I don't seem to have recorded the Caplet's, but I am going to go through my list of pieces I have supposed to have recorded and will tick them off.

I've borrowed this CD from my teacher, to listen to the Burton and the Hindemith, which are two of my possible choices for grade 8, I havn't listened to all of the others yet, but I keep planning to..

Can you describe what the Richardson Sonatina sounds liek. Sorry, I feel bad for asking.

Don't feel bad for asking gives me an excuse to listen to it!
1st movement. Mostly fairly similar to the piano part, with a bit of question and answering, fairly quick but still gentle. Nearer the end flute has some fast scaly passages, and trills, fairly high, then gets more dramatic for a few bars, before going back to scaly passages and a bit of flutter tonguing (i think, cud just be very fast double tonguing) then goes back to calm, gentle. end on a piano chord.
2nd movement. Starts with just flute, slow & gentle. lots of long notes. piano comes in, flute very high, still calm & gentle, just a few slow chords in piano part. then a bit with just piano, flute comes back in with stronger chords underneath, flute still gentle & quiet. mostly fairly high, very slow in the flute part, with mainly chords in piano, but becomes a bit more melodic nearer the end. ends with flute going down in a run, then a few piano chords, high.
3rd movement. Very upbeat. Lots of quick runs in the flute part. Quite jazzy. Some question & answering, then a bit in unison, high up. then piano runs, no flute. slows a little bit, then flute back in, more relaxed sounding than before. Back to quick paced, runs and Q&A. Gets a bit more dramtic & loud, high flute, ends with a dramatic run on flute up to a high note, which is held, with piano chords underneath
