Its a piano exam by the way!! Dont know why I expected you to just know?? huh.gif

Well, here's a breakdown, you asked for it!!

for the Allegro, I got 24/30.. really didnt expect this as was my worst one. but he said I carried it along well.

then for Granados, I got another 24/30... could have been quicker, but liked my Ruberto!!( thats not how you spell it??)

And for "Feelin' Good" I got 30/30!!!! Unbelievable!!! I knew it was my best, but felt that I didnt play my best on the day. After I had played this one he said he wouldn't mind a Gin and Tonic, which I wasnt sure if it was a good thing or a bad, But in the notes he wrote "it was very pleasent and put you in a good mood"???????Just goes to show !!

my scales I got 18, said they were a bit slow and I waited a bit too long before playing them, but it takes me a while to visualise what I am playing!!

Sight reading again 18... bit slow but accurate.

Aural...18 all right bar 1.

After I was thinking I would scrape a pass, this was all a huge surprise, as i am sure you can imagin!!

And Lisa, what peices are you learning?

And Fred, have you started grade 7 stuff??

well done!

Wonderful! Especially 30/30 for Feelin Good, that must put you in a good mood! biggrin.gif
Looks to me like you got a Distinction, not a Merit, unless my maths is totally deserting me (132?). Thanks for posting the breakdown, I'm really impressed. Scrape a pass indeed..(wanders off chuckling and shaking head).

(wanders back...)
Urm, I'm learning some Schubert and Scarlatti (non-exam) at the moment, and starting on some of the grade 7 scales. Not planning on doing grade 7 imminently, though.

Congratulations again smile.gif

Well done again for your fantastic mark! I can't believe you got 30/30 for Feelin' Good, that's brilliant!

I'm learning Allegro, Vals Poetico & Lavender's Kind of Blue. I originally chose Feelin' Good for my C piece but I didn't think I would be able to get it up to the speed that it's played on the CD so I went for Lavender's Kind of Blue from the alternative list. It's a really relaxing piece & needs lots of rubato so speed isn't really much of an issue.

The examiner gave you full marks on aural with a question wrong? If so he sounds like my sort of examiner smile.gif.

Well done once again smile.gif.

I think I exaggerated my aural mark a tad!!

Good luck Lisa with your peices, I was gonna do Lavender's kind of blue, but settled on Feelin' Good. You've plenty of time so its gonna be fine!!

Thanks Mullers!!! I've pretty much got the hang of the A & B pieces but I only recently got the music for Lavender's Kind of Blue due to me wanting to change from Feelin' Good so still working on that. Doesn't seem as hard as the other two but maybe it's because it's slower. Just out of interest, were you able to get Feelin' Good up to the suggested speed? Just wondering as that's what mainly put me off it a bit as I prefer to play jazzy pieces slightly slower.

Hi!

I was never gonna get close to the recommended speed on "Feeling Good" but my teacher doesnt think the speed is the most important thing. its more about your interpretation of the piece.

I dont know, I never really hit the right speed.

Well you must have been doing something right to achieve 30/30 for it so I guess speed isn't really that important to examiners (well I suppose on certain pieces it is but for a jazzy one maybe not) and as you said it's more about your interpretation of the piece rather than trying to match the speed that someone else decides to play it at.
