I am keen to do the DipABRSM - Teaching, preferably in both Piano and Singing but am having great difficulty in finding a teacher who has even heard of this Diploma, let alone be able to offer me advice and support in completing it! I notice that the CT ABRSM qualification offers weekend courses and continual assessment with a mentor - is this the case for the DipABRSM? Any advice / suggestions would be gratefully received! Thank you.

Hello. There is someone on here who is doing the FRSM (teaching) and offers help for others who are following this route. I can't remember her name but maybe someone else will be able to. Have you heard of the MTPP (music teaching in professional practice) from Reading Uni? Worth investigating if you have not already. I have just started it and it's a very challenging and interesting course.

I've not done either, nor am I a teacher, but the CT ABRSM is a course that teaches about teaching with an assessment; the DipABRSM is merely an exam and that's it: it assesses how well you can already teach so you need to have teaching experience before you enter it. From what I have heard people have said it's quite accessible if one has a reasonable amount of teaching experience; but really quitie difficult if one doesn't.

The forum member you're looking for is Margaret, she's usually very helpful in these cases. Take a look at this thread it might give you a starting point to find out a little more about dipABRSM teaching.
