I'm hoping so...haven't actually checked, but it was in its case. I think the case is a write off though the camera looks OK. I don't know how long it has been out there. He had buried it deep in the compost heap of rotting grass clippings.
Grrrrr....

More a preter-natural disaster I think

On the subject of dogs, the vet has just found out what's wrong with ours (remember the saga of the antibiotics a few weeks ago?).
He's got a thyroid deficiency, which explains all the symptoms he's been having (weight gain, skin problems, lethargy). Unfortunately this will mean a daily tablet from now on. The good news is that they are small, and it's only one a day so we should be able to slip it into his dinner.
We should have our bouncy dog back before long, I hope. He's only just eight, which is a bit young to be as old and doddery-looking as he's been lately.

Oh so glad you have a diagnosis and there is something that can be done.
With Archie a bit of cheese always helps his medicine go down.

We've done cheese (red Leicester, stilton), bread, flapjack (No.1 son's attempt) and baked beans. He gets wise to them all after a while.

Hope the camera is still working! Sometimes I wonder if animals are pets or pests!! Our neighbours rabbit keeps escaping and every time my cat sees it he wants it for his dinner.

I came very close to throttling yellow dog when he was only 11 months old (don't worry - he lived to 13 1/2 years!!) - he found my childhood teddybear and shredded it all over the floor!! I went absolutely ape - totally hysterical and screaming and beside myself!! And then eventually I started to laugh as it was obvious he'd had a very good time! But I think my reaction frightened him as he never destroyed anything again. Well apart from paper tissues which he found in the waste bin, but I let him get away with those! So far (cross fingers) chocolate dog hasn't done anything awful. Actually black dog was a bit naughty aswell as she used to pinch toilet rolls and shred them all over the floor, so I used to keep replacing them - my landlady (I was lodging at the time) must have wondered why the toilet rolls kept getting larger rather than smaller with use! And she pinched a shoe and tore the inner out of it - at least she was consistent as next day she pinched the other one of the same pair and did the same to that! Aah dogs! - wonderful creatures!!

I'm afraid I've just refused to have my daughter's dog while she is away.
But we did get back from my mum's on Christmas day to find the kitchen trashed!!!
And, though I don't actually dilike dogs, I don't enjoy having one around the house all the time.

That reminds me - black dog was a bit of a food thief in her first year - until she went for the ultimate prize - the 15 pound Christmas turkey! Unfortunately for her it plus the plate it was on were very heavy, so as she pulled it off the worktop it all fell to the floor, the plate smashed and she was so scared I found her hiding upstairs in her basket having not had a single mouthful.

I was talking to a friend last night whose daughter is getting married in a fortnight's time. She'd made all three tiers of the wedding cake, but had to make one again because her dog found it and ate half of it before being discovered.

Dogs are great! The dog we had when I was younger stole half a peanut butter sandwich from my hand once! (Much laughter ensued when the peanut butter stuck to the roof of his mouth

).
In-laws puppy-walked a guide dog who managed to open a kitchen cupboard door and demolish about a pound of carrots. They got back to find a dog looking a bit unwell and guilty.
How's the camera, Jane? Does it now only take dirty pictures?

Back from my hols to find Archie outside digging again.
I went out to look and found the kitchen towel in a hole. John said "Oh I wondered where that had gone to, it went missing about Wednesday"
Grrrrr
PS camera seems to have survived with no lasting damage, but camera case is a write off.

He has nicked the chamois leather out my case but, so far, not the violin. Always a bit worried he might mistake the bow for a stick!

Latest episode in "Archie the kleptomaniac dog" saga
Got a new video player and was just setting it up this lunchtime. I unpacked everything but then I had to answer the door, and shut Archie in the room with the new video (risky I know, but hey! video players are too big for dogs to pick up!)
Came back to finish plugging in etc.....he had stolen the cable that goes from the TV to the video and although it was still in its plastic bag, had chewed right through it.
Anyone want a a large, hardly used, orange and white pointer?

I'm getting wise to this now.
The post has just come, the back door is open and Archie is missing

. Warning bells sounded in my head
I looked outside and could see him in the orchard very busy digging away and shoving with his nose (burying behaviour).
He had nicked the 2 CDs I had ordered from Amazon for my sister in laws birthday and the package was half buried by the time I got there.
I'm starting to wonder what might be out there and we don't know it's missing yet.
