Sib 3 is a wonderful piece of kit, but some things seem to defy reason.

I have a treble clef score. It automatically created 16 lines after I forced 5 bars per stave. I need to add 4 more staves. Does anybody know how I can do this?

Does anybody know how I can delete pages from a score, for example a final blank page of staves that I am not using?

I think you go to Create and add bars and then add as many as you need to create the stave.

Deleting- highlight it and press delete

sometimes that doesn't work though, I always end up with one spare bar at the end that it won't delete! Or maybe that's just me smile.gif

edit: to create bars quicker, just hold down ctrl (or alt, one of the two) and then click b as many times as you want

I think, if I recall, that you need to triple click the offending bar and then try to delete it....
flute_gurl
excellent I'll try that later! I've been trying to work out how to get rid of it for years....thanks!
MattD
Triple clicking a bar bar select the whole of the score (double click will select the current staff, and single click the bar, just like in your internet browser triple/double/single click on text will select the line/word/nothing respectively).

To delete actual bars, and not just the content of them, you need to hold Ctrl + Shift, and then click in the bar. It should then get a double line around it, as opposed to the single one you normally get. If you want to delete more than one bar, simply hold shift after you have done the above, and click to where you want to delete to. Then press delete, and there you go.

I'm pretty sure that's it, but I haven't got Sibelius on this PC to test.

That might be it; it's been a while since I've used it.

Ctrl and click on a bar will highlight a double box around it and the bar can be deleted.

The user manual (which comes with the legal, bought, version...) is actually very good as it contains sections that take you through all the intuitive things one wants to do but normally has to work out by trial and error.

This is why Sibelius 3 is, on the whole, the best music notation software out there.

All that worked. I set the view level to 25% and did as you said. This removed the remaining ‘empty’ bars (all one and a half pages of them).

Many thanks, Steve biggrin.gif

Yes. Sort of. It displaced the last bar by the number of bars I chose to insert. There has to be an easier way.

Can't find it, though biggrin.gif
MattD
I can't remember what's in the menus exactly, but there is another quick way to do it (if you don't need a great number of bars):

Click on the last bar (or whatever bar precedes where you want the new bar(s) to be placed)
Press Ctrl + B to insert a bar, as many times as you need.

Hope that helps smile.gif

Does the instructions book not give you any help?

Or because you're a man - you don't read the instructions tongue.gif

Of course I do not read the instructions. I am a man. Real Men Do Not Read Instructions.

It is no good running away. I have your address. Which reminds me, that I promised you a copy of my demo cd. I will post it tomorrow. Promise.

Good luck in the morning. Along with many others, I will be thinking of you.

Weapon? What weapon? Did someone mention a weapon? Ridiculous sort of idea.

Very strange people around, these days, needing weapons. Personally, I have no idea what they are.
