Nat: those 5 marks don't matter if Bangor have accepted you, which it sounds like they have - and congrats for your Bs in English and Music.
Well done Helen.

Well done, Helen. Am I right in thinking you're doing AQA Psychology? In which case Unit 2 would be Stress and Individual Differences? Which subjects are you continuing with? (besides Psychology

).

Hey Nat - coincidence - you got exactly the same grades as my daughter!
She wouldn't look on the UCAS site, but waited to go in to school at 10.30.
She phoned us a bit later. Different subjects but the same grades!

Yes, I am doing AQA. In january when I was miffed with my C in the first module you said that unit 1 was the hardest. Yes unit 2 is the stress and individual differences module. Although I couldn't for the life of me remember the workplace stress study so I just randomly wrote.

Music, psychology, french, and carrying on to complete the AS general studies module.

Well, I got a B in a/s maths. Bit irritated with my Stats 1 grade, I thought it had gone really well but I only just scraped into the C boundary for it! Still, hopefully when I retake it, I might just manage to scrape back up into the A vicinity!
Congrats to everyone else.

my music breakdown (for my dear elmo):
A2:
94 for composition (what i want to do for a living)
99 in performance
100 in historical study
AS (from last year):
93 for performance
100 for composition
100 for historical study
so 586 overall... which i was pretty pleased with!

hehe
elmo
Aug 18 2005, 06:55 PM
wow! I'm guessing they're all out of 100?! That's ace!
What on earth is a Historical study!? (Don't state the obvious, but wat do you have to do?!)
cheeble
Aug 18 2005, 06:56 PM
lol yeah they're out of 100...
historical study: for AS you have 6 set works which you answer questions on and you get 2 aural exercises
for A2 you have some set eras (ours was the Romantic era) and a synoptic essay plus 2 aural exercises
it's weird, but that's OCR for you. hehe!!
what boards did everyone else do?

*Humbled and depressed at the same time*
From memory:
60/90 - composition
83/90 - performing
91/120 - listening paper
And in A2:
48/90 - performance
55/90 - written paper
75/120 - Investigation, report and composition
412/600 pretty disappointed with A2, especially as I thought nocturne in E flat went very well in performance and I put so much effort into my I, R & C.

I aint mocking the mark, I just thought that the level of work that I put in deserved a higher grade but hey who am I to judge. I'm sure you worked hard too though, did you want a higher grade too Elmo?
elmo
Aug 18 2005, 07:37 PM
I was satisfied with my grade, but I agree about the effort! It's a bit mean to work so hard on something and get just over half marks!

Aug 18 2005, 07:43 PM
I'm pleased with everything in music, except the point about the invest and report! Do they do it 90 for invest and 30 for comp? or 60 60?
Performance I deserved 60. I relaxed too much after that concert so didnt concentrate enough in the real thing.
written paper: god only knows!

Well congrats to Ali-b-b and g.tuba. Great marks! (Just a hunch, do you reckon that on average, people who do play an instrument are more academically gifted/motivated than people who don't?) Didn't know there was such a subject as music tech, sounds like fun!

AS is the first year of A level. A2 is the second year. The qualification as a whole is called an A level.
Symphony
Aug 18 2005, 09:25 PM
Ohhh it all makes so much more sense now - so do ye get graded on the AS, and then again on the A2s? Why not just do it in the final year? (sorry for being ignorant)
saxlover
Aug 18 2005, 09:25 PM
Yes at the end of AS you get grades, these also count towards the overall qualification
