Ooh, a polysyllable; thankyou smile.gif

I'll now know what it means if I have it shouted at me in Glasgow....

On a bit of a tangeant here... but on a search for "music jokes" on Google, I was presented with a long list of pages that contained the words "music joke". I clicked on one, and there was an index of jokes. The first two read like this:

Musical Jokes
Viola Jokes

ohmy.gif

Nowhere else on the page did it mention any other instruments or jokes relating to any other instruments... I guess we viola players have to grin and bear it dry.gif

Hehe, I like that, it's like the musician jokes..take for example, the bassoon:

'Bassoon players should be perceived as 'odd' or 'weird' by everyone else' - No offence to the bassoon players on here, you're not weird!!

That sounds like something I wrote...

Exciteable Bassoonist

I object to the notion that bassoonists are not weird!!! mad.gif

To add to the fun and games....

Real things conductors have said to their orchestras!

Pianissimo doesn't mean 'drop the f*ck out'

Lets see if you can pizzicato together in a non-banjo-like way

You know, there's a fine line between artistry and sh*t. Not that what you're doing is sh*t,  but it's close to it

That was a drive-by viola solo

You're all wondering what speed it's going to go. Well, so am I

Play as if you were musicians

The pianissimo line and the artistry line sounds like something our conductor would be tempted to say!!

I've just been reading the instruments thread in the General Music forum and it reminded me of another Thomas Beecham gem:

Upright Piano - A musical growth found adhering to the walls of most semi-detached houses in the provinces.

Love it laugh.gif

Just found this:

string quartet: a good violinist, a bad violinist, an ex-violinist, and someone who hates violinists, all getting together to complain about composers.

Sounds about right!! dry.gif laugh.gif

*much laughter* all too true!
