crazy cow
erm trying (failing) to find a decent photo of a girl i know who's gone missing, waiting for a friend to come on msn cause i haven't spoken to my mates in ages (all our holidays overlap, sadly you can't get internet access in a tent)
crazy cow
arrrrggghhh why will yahoo 360 NOT WORK??!!!?!?!?!?!?! i want to go on my site and change stuff...grrrrrr
nicki_flute
Oh now Crazy Cow, I hope your friend is found soon. I am just sitting here typing in a ever increasing depressing mood.
jo.clarinet
Why are you depressed, Nicki?
nicki_flute
I keep thinking of exam results (GCSEs) which come out in a couple of days, I am annoyed at myself that I haven't done much work today and that I can't seem to control myself so I don't spend loads of texts (which my Dad pays for). I am worried about 6th form, even though it is at the same school. I already have stuff regarding school to sort out and it isn't even the beginning of term.

she's not really my 'friend' - i know her, but not really well, just hoping she's ok
try not to worry about the gcse's! i don't know if i've got any consideration yet for having glandular fever since january - if i get it i'll feel like i cheated, if i don't i'll feel like its not fair how people get marks for their goldfish dying and i don't get anything for only making 2 full weeks of school in the whole year... unsure.gif
nicki_flute
Oh poor you, it must have been horrendous. Those silly considerations I don't think are in force yet. Plus they needed to have been made clear on the day and there needs to be proof. I think you will get it. 2 weeks in a whole year shows that you were very ill!
crazy cow
lol actually it wasn't that bad at school, true i felt absolutely shattered and cried on one day (my legs stopped working and i panicked!) and very nearly cried on another day when my music teacher said i looked awful and i didn't know what was wrong with me..but being with my friends helped - it was being at home that was worse, i had loads of work to do just to keep up with everyone else (remember a point at which i had about 7 homeworks to hand in, plus about 10 lessons worth of work to catch up with, and it took ages because my concentration and ability to not just lie down lasted about 10 mins!) our doctor has sent in 2 letters stating that i missed school, but i don't think i'll get anything to be honest! i managed 2 whole weeks and about 4 weeks which were whole minus PE..otherwise it was part-time

Nicki, you sound like a very normal sort of person to me - although I think you do tend to be a bit of a worrier! Best of luck for your exam results! smile.gif
nicki_flute
Bit of a worrier. That is an understatement! Helen has already told me she is going to emigrate when I take a degree!! biggrin.gif And now I am confused and unsure by something else.

I think you'll get consideration. Did your school put you in so you could have extra time and things?
crazy cow
no i didnt get extra time in exams or anything. for some of the exams it was ok, but for science i'd really appreiciate some consideration because i missed the teaching of just about a whole module from each subject and learning it from text books, revision guides and notes just isn't quite the same as being in the lessons. still if i don't get it there isn't anything i can do, i'll be proud to have even passed them all with my health record this year!
andante_in_c
I'm trying to ignore my aching feet. We've spent a day and a half walking round London. We decided we missed too much when we just went from A to B on the Tube, so we walked everywhere. Our hotel last night was reasonably convenient for the Albert Hall, but it took a bit longer to get back because we couldn't walk through Hyde Park.

The Prom was brilliant. Shostakovich 8 lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes - a real feat of stamina for the orchestra (the LSO) and I couldn't believe the number of piccolo solos! There was also a point where all 4 flutes flutter-tongued - I could see people trying to work out what the strange instrument was. laugh.gif Great performances of the Ravel Alborada and the G major piano concerto too. biggrin.gif

We went to see Handel's house today - a nice little museum. Jimi Hendrix lived next door (not at the same time wink.gif ), and so there was a small exhibition of photographs of him as well. I spent a bit of money in Chappell's (but I was good smile.gif ), and rather more in the Virgin Megastore (not so good sad.gif )

Well, at work in my capacity as a PhD student with a desk, shared office and computer. I'm meeting my supervisor this afternoon, so I'm sure I'll have plenty to do after that.

Trying not to worry about GCSE results.
Choddy
Waiting for someone to come on MSN cos they're all away at the moment sad.gif Other than that, contemplating whether I should go and have a blast on my horn blink.gif
elmo
GCSE results will be fine *nods*

We did a samba gig today. We enjoyed ourselves, but only 2 people (nooooo exageration at all!) turned up to the air ambulance thing that we were playing for! I'm thinking about the stupid bank which has frozen my account and won't clear my cheques, and debating whether I should get off the computer, go and have a bath and go to bed early coz I hav work, or to go sit in my room and play folk music!
Choddy
Sounds like an interesting choice of options you have there elmo wink.gif

And good luck to everyone for their GCSEs tomorrow! biggrin.gif I'm sure you'll all do fine.
nicki_flute
I get my results at 8am because I am in the paper. If they're ok, then I might put them up.
Alibonebone!
I'm just back from interval training *.............snore....phew.......snore....*
elmo
They will be fine, so there's no need to question the fact that you won't be putting them up!
Choddy
They will be biggrin.gif. My other brother really couldn't care less what results he gets... strange child! laugh.gif

I've just realised... the ABRSM forum clock is an hour behind isn't it! I've been getting so confused! blink.gif

I spend short bursts of time on the forum and then go back to some speech or other therapy I'm doing with my son or play with my girl or do some housework.

Update from yesterday - well I got the border up, with no great matching-problems when I had to change from one roll to another, and I'm pleased with the way it looks. My husband has built (with a bit of help from me here and there, but he did the design and most of the construction) a brilliant shelving unit to go on one side of the chimney breast, which should hold most of the music which was previously in boxes all over the floor. It's also been confirmed to me that the new carpet will definitely be laid before term begins. So it's been a really good day.

Tomorrow I've got to rub out the visible pencil markings on the shelving, and then I can start to put music there. I've bought loads of those magazine file things (the ones which are deep enough for music books - some of them aren't - I'm glad I checked the sizes before ordering them!). And I can re-hang the curtains now that there's not going to be any more dusty activities in there....
