I think the best in our school was 10 A* and then me, although not totally sure.

Well done Trebor, that is exceptional!

Wow, well done!

As far as I know, one other guy got the same (possibly two). I think I get some book tokens but have to sit through a 2-hour prizegiving (I've been to it 3 times out of the last 4 and it is painfully dull).  mad.gif

Yes, mine was too! And at mine, they made me go up 3 times, they couldn't have given me all 3 in one go could they? Noooooooooooo. rolleyes.gif

Just found out a girl I used to share a viola desk with in orchestra got 13 A*s!! Crazy - she had to do comupulsory PE and IT ohmy.gif I got 9 A*s plus an A* in Psychology from last year, and an A in English Literature (my worst subject lol!). V. pleased that I got A* in maths as I want to carry on to A Level.

There was a boy in the paper in our county who got 15 A*/A grades!! At our school the most anyone did was 11, and that was because 1 tutor forced her group to do a Citizenship GCSE! Well done for your grades, they are really good. Like you, I was pleased I got an A* for Maths but unlike you, it was because I really didn't expect an A* after the exams! I am pleased never to have to do it again.

15! crazy. no one needs that many GCSEs.

Exactly what I was thinking. Once one has A-levels, all anyone seems to care about is if one has 5 GCSEs A* to C including English and Maths....
nicki_flute
I thought 10 was enough, I wouldn't have had the stamina/energy/concentration to do any more!

15 GCSEs is just insane. There's no need for that many so why suffer all the extra work and stress when 10 or less would have done.
Trebor
I just found out that one boy in the year got 12 A*s because he took Spanish 2 years early (his mother's a Spanish teacher I think). I did feel a bit jealous but then I realised how absurd it is dry.gif
sarah-flute
I don't think people really need 10, even. Oh well. No, don't be jealous of those who got more... you guys have all done brilliantly and got more qualifications at high grades than you'll probably ever need! So give yourselves a huge pat on the back an move on.

Look at this here

This girl got 15 A*s because she 'enjoyed' them...hmmm dry.gif

Well I thought 11 was too many, especially when I was working towards Grades 7 and 8 during the same time.

Hard not to feel a little irritated about those poeple tjhough... they seem to belittle all the hard work us more "normal" people put in! biggrin.gif
Trebor
What I don't get is the kids who do them at 6 or 7 and get D or C grades. Lots of them end up retaking them later to get better grades so they only seem to be doing it for the "fame" of getting a GCSE at a very young age, which seems pointless to me.
YetAnotherPianist
I wouldn't get too upset about someone having 15 GCSEs - I'd suspect it means they've done enough work to get the grades they want in each one and no more due to time constraints. It'll hit them hard when they come to do A-levels....
crazy_purple_piano_freak
If you can find it, theres a girl who did about 10 A levels because she 'enjoyed' them too...she did Law by herself in a MONTH and got an A. These people dont irritate me but they kind of amaze me at how well they can cope under pressure and how much self-will they have...
sarah-flute
That girl took 17 GCSEs in all!!! No one needs that many GCSEs, and I suspect that YAP is right, it is not good preparation for A Levels (or life in general...)
liebe_klavier
that's crazy....

i am quite satisfy that i got 12 GCSEs last year.....but i do think 17 GCSES is not that necessary.....

i nearly fainted when a girl in my school got 11A* and 2 A.... let alone 15 A* and 2 A....
