If you play more than one woodwind instrument, choose the one that you are most serious in.
pianoandflute
flute is my main woodwind instrument and clarinet is my second.
Symphony
Flute is my main however ... I think that overall the most popular IS the flute ... Over here anyway smile.gif Most definitely without question most common and overplayed.

Clarinet here

Strange, the closest I've ever been to a bassoon is listening to the clip of 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' on Encarta 95 when I was about 7!

Which one am I more serious in- flute or bassoon?

-Flute. Will be playing in 1 band but higher grade 4.
-Bassoon. lower grade (3) but in a county orchestra as well as playing in a local band.

Flute (I think) lol, i play flute and clarinet in an orchestra so wasn't sure which to choose but i've been playing flute longer so i choose that
flautist999
i play flute!!!! i'm in various school bands and am starting in the intermediate cotswold flute choir in september!!!!
zauberfagott
I'm a bassoonist, although for a while I was doing my best to get oboe lessons instead.

Too much opposition, so I gave up and now I resent the people sitting in front of me in orchestra. Oh well.
Symphony
Im confused ... is this supposed to be which woodwind orchestral instruments do WE play or which are the most popular blink.gif seems to be a mixture of replies lol

Vote the Woodwind instrument that you play regardless of whether you think it is popular or not. The popularity is shown when we look at other people's vote.
woodwind
I voted for clarinet because, although I've been playing the flute for longer, I'm actually better at the clarinet. Something to do with having lessons, I suppose!

Just maybe wink.gif rolleyes.gif
recorderzrule
voted flute but appalled to see there's no recorder option!!!
LaFluteDePan
I play flute and a little clarinet, but I think that oboe is my favorite orchestra instrument. I love the way it sounds when played at an advanced level. Earlier, it's just honking, but it's a great sound once it's matured.

That's what I thought too! mad.gif
andante_in_c
In fairness it does say 'standard orchestra' instrument in the subheading.
zauberfagott
It does, which is why I didn't complain the first time smile.gif

I wonder why the oboe is not so popular. I personally love the sound of the oboe besides the flute. I find that it has a beautiful poignant tone, good for melancholic music.
saxlover
Prefer flute but am better at clarinet..............I think unsure.gif
recorderzrule
i only just saw that orchestra comment! ah well
