Bet no one can beat my mouse problem!
We caught a whopping 26 mice in my BEDROOM CUPBOARDS (!) last winter and 12 in the loft!
Bet I can.
We helped a pet shop out when it was closing down, by offering to take the mice. Ha! What we didn't realise was that some of the mice were small enough to be able to get out through the bars even of a mouse cage.
That was nearly a year ago.
Now, we have three multi-catch live traps permanently set, and every few days we manage to catch a half-grown litter which we transfer to cages. So far we have been able to supply a local pet shop but now it is beginning to look as if we are running out of places to take the youngsters. I am constantly putting food and water down in the rodent room (we keep hamsters too) and they certainly get through a lot. I guess we have about 40 cages in there. Cages with baby mice in have to be kept in the bath because the babies can get through the bars. Right now there are three mouse cages in the bath and another two cages that really do need to go in the bath as soon as I can possibly move some out. All this would not be quite so bad if male mice would live happily in groups but often they fight.
There has been a mouse loose in the office for several weeks, often he runs out from under the clavinova and across the room, sometimes he comes onto the desk and runs in front of the PC monitor, but we can't catch him. Quite often we get one in the bedroom. There is also one loose in the bathroom.
One cage we have in the bathroom probably has about 40 young mice in it - I haven't counted but they get through a full bottle of water every day. Once they are a little bigger that will be a major problem - we are hoiping the pet shop might be able to have a few next week.
