They sure will. I go back tomorrow, and I bet I won't ba able to sleep tonight because I had a later night and a late morning, which will make it hard to fall asleep by 10 tonight. Bag is nearly packed, but I have just realised how HUGE my pencil case it. I'm sure it doesn't need to be as big as it is.....

Gosh, that's early!
It seems like that schools start earlier every year. In my school, the Year 7s go in tomorrow, but the other years go in on Monday, which means I can see how quiet the forums are tomorrow.

It is, but in our school, the teachers go back Monday, the Year 7s and Year 12s come back on Tuesday and the rest of us come back on Wednesday. Suits me.

Am I right in thinking you are taking maths, further maths and additional further maths? If so, you are going to want to pack a calculator
purple dolphin
Sep 4 2005, 07:33 PM
Yes, you might find a calculator useful. And they may actually advise you to buy a graphics calculator. My brother had to get one of those when he started A level maths and further maths.

I think the regulations have changed recently to restrict how good a calculator one is allowed to buy - I'd check with your teacher that, if you do want to get a graphical calculator, that it isn't blacklisted by your examination board.

Happy New School Year? Happy?!
Do you have any idea how much work I have to do between now and Thursday when I go back to college? (Well obviously you don't...)
Also, obviously, it's my own fault that I decided to leave nearly all my work (Maths Coursework, Business Studies coursework, 4000 word Essay in
Chemistry and 5 books to read for English, plus that Spanish I'd forgotten about till now, oh and I'm sure I was suposed to do something for German too...) till the last week, but argh anyway!
And yes, I'm now off to get on with it...

This is quite strange, but here's my breakdown of subjects:
- 4 Science
- 4 English
- 3 Maths
- 3 Music
- 3 Geography
- 3 Graphics (two periods have been put together to make a double lesson)
- I.C.T.
- P.S.H.R.E. (Personal, Social, Health & Religious Education) = not GCSE
- P.E. = not GCSE

We had a 2 week timetable at school, but we have a 1 week timetable at college, which is so much better. After a holiday or half term I spent the entire sunday night ringing round my friends asking "is it week A or B tomorrow?".
I hope I don't have a timetable as awful as last year, with 1hr30 of maths then 1hr 30 of french on a friday afternoon straight off with no break in between. Torture. And I hope that tutorials are more convieniently placed as well, on a tuesday last year I had: 1 hr30 of french, break, 1 hr free, tutorial, maths 1 hr 30 free and 1 hr 30 of psychology, and if maths was cancelled i would have 3 hours free in the middle of the day, but couldn't go home because of tutorial being smack bang in he middle of the day.

Wahey, I made it through the first day. Was alright but a bit boring. We were only supposed to have one lesson but mine was a free anyway - the rest was talks focusing on becoming an INDEPENDENT LEARNER. If I hear that phrase again I will explode. But anyway, most of my teachers are okay even if my Div tutor's a bit of an idiot.

Thanks Noodle. Have caught up with this one a bit late, but anyway wanted to wish all the very best to all students starting back this week, and hoping your new courses will be (mainly!) enjoyable.
And to all you teachers - wishing you a brilliant term with loads of keen, hardworking pupils!

I'm already annoyed with my college this year, and I have only been here 2 3/4 hours. This year they expect us to wear a landyard with our swipe card attached to it, it's bright red with the name of our college all around it!! What was wrong with me keeping it in my pocket last year??? The computer technicians are as tetchy as ever, I got on the wrong side of one of them, from asking how to log on this year! (They've gone and changed all our passwords....). I have a stupid timetable, with about 3 hours free in the middle of some days, but not long enough to go home. Hmph. Today tutorial finished at 11.15 but everyone had to arrange interviews, and mine isn't until 12.45! Grr! I won't be home until at least 2:00 now. There was me thinking "Oh yeah it'll only be an hour or so".

Stupid college.

Well, I had my induction on Monday and confirmed my courses. I go back on Monday the 12th. I get the bus and I have to be in at 8.20 which means i have to leave here at 7. It is a new school so i have no idea where i am going and the earliest bus gets me in at 8.19. The school day finishes at 3.10 and i cant leave until then. Its soooo frustrating and im not even there yet! lol
