Does anyone else feel the Tuba Grade 7 piece 'Introduction and Allegro Spiritoso' should be on the Grade 8 syllabus and in reverse, the 'Concertino for Tuba' be on the Grade 7 syllabus.
I ask this because the university performance exam does not have the 'Introduction and Allegro Spiritoso' till the second year of a typical BA(Hons) music degree.
The piece is quite technically demanding in comparison to the 'Concertino for Tuba' which is fairly easy and certainly easier than the 'Introduction and Allegro Spiritoso.'
An examiner at the end of my Grade 8 examination asked me what I thought of the current syllabus for Grade 8 Tuba, and he seemed to agree with my comments. Does anyone else agree? Or not agree?
