I'm hopefully going to the London Metropolitan university open day, but the nearest tube station is Aldgate. Isn't this where one of the 7th July bombings was? Is it open? If not, what tube station do I need to get off at?

I think that is where one of the London bombs was planted. You could try coming off the train at Tower Hill on the District line, but I don't know the walking distance between Tower Hill and Aldgate.

If I might suggest, why not give them a call both to check and if problems remain, which is the nearest alternate station.

Where you coming into London from? You can walk it from a variety of terminii, Liverpool St. and Fenchurch St. included -- it's about 15 minutes from the former, 10 minutes from the latter...

I happen to work about 5 mins up the road so know the area quite well

Erm.... I'm coming from Birmingham... so probably from Euston station
