Hi!
In my audition in July, the comments sheet came back and basically said that my staccato was terrible, and today I had my first lesson after the holidays, and it is true, I do need to work on it. So what can I do to make the notes more detached and shorter?
Thankyou,
Nicki

I've been told to put the tip of your tongue forward touching the fleshy inside part of your top lip & imagine that you have a bit of tissue paper on the end of your tongue & you're trying to spit it off. biggrin.gif that way your tongue should move really fast. And to imagine that the note is a circle & you're trying to put a hole right in the centre of it.
Actually andante will give you much the best advice smile.gif

I seem to recall pointing out that stacatto-ing seemed to be something of a perdantic issue for your auditioner but never mind.

I don't think there's anything wrong with my own stacatto-ing, but I find the notes will go very muffled given half a chance so any advice also appreciated from this angle too! smile.gif
