I got my results for grade 5 clarinet back yesterday and i got 139 so i passed with distinction. I could not believe it! It just goes to show that if u work hard it does pay off! Before this exam i'd only ever done one exam and that was grade 2 so i was really nervous about this one. When i went in the room i decided to give it my all and it worked.
Thanx for all your help with my exam worries!!!
Has anyone else got their result back yet?

P.S. Sometimes it's possible to work and prepare really hard, but the exam just doesn't go well on the day! ohmy.gif

When you're nervous it can be hard to do yourself justice - missmusic, what are your main tips for 'holding it together' and doing well in the exam?

Yeh Carys im definetely feeling motivated lol! The main tip (without sounding stupid lol) is too feel the music, its a known fact that people play their best when they're practising at home, alone. I was incredibly nervous before i went in but when i got in there i looked at the examiner and smiled. She was really nice and it felt very casual. Before i started i asked her about things that i didnt understand, like what order she would like me to do things etc... and then i just went for it and played like i was at home in my room, but this time i couldnt stop. Oh and apparently i got marked on the speed of my reply in the aural and the scales and arpeggios, it shows u understand what they're asking you.
Hope this has helped Carys!

Don't get a 'hang up' re the aurals Nat = I'm sure you must be better at them than you think, after all you are very musical. rolleyes.gif

The aural was ok-ish lol....i got asked to sing a phrase of music that she played, tap the rhythm, tap the pulse and then identify any modulations in a piece of music and what period the music is from. Identifying which period the music was from was the bit i was dreading coz i haven't done much work on that area, but it was a multiple choice question so it wasnt too bad! I did have to say why i thought it was from that period, i gave one answer but she played it again and kinda gave me a little hint as to what the other answer was. She was really nice lol! Oh and the sight singing lol i didn't go drastically wrong and she said she'd correct me if i did go wrong (and she did lol about 2 or 3 times.)
I was really worried about the aural but all i can say is do your best!

I got my grade 4 clarinet results back on Tuesday and I got 88.5, which works out as distinction for me cos they're out of 100. I had to get 88 for distinction so I felt the luckiest person alive!!! I even got full marks on my scales which I thought was amazing as I only learnt them all a week before my exam!!!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
