hi
im teaching my 14year old brother the piano and he wants to do grade 1!!!not now but maybe in November!!
what pieces are the best to do, he will probably learn creepy crawly as everyone does that one but what about list A and B. ive been lookin at A1 and B2. what does anyone else think?!!
he actually likes scales!! he can do Cmajor right and left hand separately, and the same with Gmajor. also he can do Cmajor contrary motion and he has only been learning a week!!!!!

Maybe a good idea to get the cd and let him listen to them all and choose which he likes the sound of best. Or get him to have a go at more than one in each list and choose his favourite or best then.

im only on grade 5 so i wouldnt exactly say i was the best person to teach, but he just wants to learn a bit and do his grade 1!!! his little ambition is to learn the 1st part of Fur Elise so he can annoy my parents!!! they dont like it because i always play that piece and it is getting on their nerves as ive played it nearly every day for the past 3 years!!!lol

I think that teaching your brother will help you to understand more why and how you do things yourself.

just got distinction on grade 1. i took creepy crawly, prelude and quiet wood.
creepy crawly is so cool to play lol
quiet wood is soothing and slow
prelude i struggled with cos of th whole joining th notes but not holding them at th end.
but i recomemnd creepy crawly and quiet wood.
ive bin learning bout 2 yrs and i struggled with prelude so either hes really good and can manage it or a was really rubbish lol.

Hi, try doing Reigen for the C piece as it is different, everyone does Creepy. But the important thing if you are going to perform is to like the pieces, so play them to him and let him chose.
