heya, im pretty new on these voice forums.
i wanted to ask for some advice because when im singing a whitney houston song (or any song for that matter, im just narrowing it donw for ya) i can make my throat go into this sorta "state" where i can only sing high notes (and if i try and sing any lower notes: no noise comes out exept a breathey sorta noise coming from the back throat.)
ANYWAY, lol, i want to get help on this state, just info really, i think its where my "fleshy bit at the back of the throat" opens, but i cant sing lower not with it, and when i have that fleshy bit open, i can wuickly go from high to low note.

another problem, (if u have the time, lol) is this breathey problem.

thanks so much if u read all that and please reply with some experiances, help, websites.....

hi! i used to have the same problem for a while., where i coudl be low or high, but anything in the middle was awful. i solved this, by singing loadsa scales, starting right from the lowest sound i coudl ever make right up to the squeakiest highest sound. it helped me to extend my range too! arpeggios also helped. research some breathing techniques too and try some. one i do at the moment, i think is on this website somewhere. it's where you breathe in and when your lungs are full, breathe a bit more, but not so much that you're in agony! another thing that helps me before i sing is eating bread...i know that probably sounds really wierd, but it clears your throat somewhat. without butter though, and try not to eat chocolate before you sing.

hope this helps a bit!

R :-)
