Hoping to take violin 8 this term...bit of a long shot since I've not done an exam in years and also have GCSE mocks, coursework, interviews for 6th forms, auditions for music scholarships/schools and all the necessary social life which goes with being 15. I'll take it if I think I can get a distinction.
By the way...anyone know the entry fee?

I've only done grade 6, but I've decided to miss grade 7 and spend longer working towards grade 8 so i can hopefully do it before i leave for uni (so that gives me about 2 years, plenty of time)
At the moment I'm looking at the Bach Adagio, the faure andante and the bartok rhapsody, although im not sure if i'll definitely do them.

There's so much option after grade 8 that i'm spoilt for choice. You can do either a DipABRSM or ATCL in either music performance or teaching.

Suprisingly the scales of Violin and Viola for every grade is the same, so I'll just do 2 of my grade 8s together....

which will be quite in a million years time...

Could anyone explain the difference? That is, what you have to do, and what it means to universities/schools. I really don't understand any of this system!
Playing my grade 8 pieces in my first solo recital next Thursday - yay! Will be so nice to get them up to standard a couple of months before I need to...

Not planning on taking any grades (let alone Grade8) soon, but I read the syllabus and Vivaldi's Spring (List A) is a great piece to play. It's been a while since I learnt it, but if you are wanting to take that, I could try and help you out with fingerings on that piece if you need it... Give me a shout if you do
