I have been on a two-day course this weekend and after one-day, my lips felt funny and I found it hard to stay in tune and to play long sustained notes. Is there anyway to prevent this, or to stop the side-affects??
Thanks,

practise! You get used to it the longer you practise. 3 hours at band rehearsal was awful, until we id 10 hours playing non stop and it's been fine since!
stick at it

Thanks Elmo!
Any ideas, to get rid of a little line on my lip where my reed has rubbed on my top lip.

lip balm soothes it a bit if you put it where your teeth have rubbed. Dunno why it works but it does!

You just reminded me of that time my mouth started bleeding...*shudder*
That shouldn't happen though, so don't give it a thought. It's a long and complicated story, but take dry-mouth very seriously and do your best to get rid of it!
Keep up your fluid intake while playing and that should also help your embouchure (a moist mouth is a relaxed one).
