I've had major problems trying to get hold of my flute teacher, finally managed to and have arranged a lesson... such a relief!

I've also found out that someone in my town is having a Special Visit in December for exams, and so I don't need to panic about getting my application in really soon, and also I have only a short ride to get there instead of having to go right into Gloucester. AND it means I know when the exam will be.

Phew!

Now all I need to do is learn my scales... rolleyes.gif
saxlover
Yay for you!!

Yes get learning those scales!

I couldn't remember whether you'd done Grade 4 or 6.
saxlover
If I remember correctly she has done grade 4 and working for grade 6

sarah-flute
CPE Bach Allegro... don't know where it's from! Says in the syllabus! (from Baroque Flute Pieces vol 4)

Gaubert Madrigal

Study 6 from the Stokes Jazz Singles book
saxlover
Is the Bach the

dum dum di di di di di di di diiiiiiiiii didi dididi
sarah-flute
Nope, it's the one that goes "dum diddle dum, dum diddle dum, di diiiiiiiiii dididididididi diiiiiiiiii di"

I don't like it THAT much but it's growing on me, hopefully I'll get into it by December! I like the other two though.
saxlover
I'm impressed have you been tonic doo-da-ling

I did that! I think. Is it from the E minor Sonata?

Nat - it is the one Helen played.

Actually I am not so sure!

I know,but unless Sarah's tonic doo-da-ing is awful(which I am sure it isn't!!) then it isn't that one
nicki_flute
I have a whole CD of CPE Bach flute sonatas. I bought it so I could listen to the style of my piece. I know *bright idea* Let's check on the syllabus!
saxlover
Oh yes!! D'oh!

C. P. E. Bach Allegro (from Sonata in D, Wq.131, H.561)

Nope not the same one *goes to listen to it*
saxlover
Didn't think so
nicki_flute
I don't like it...I don't know why! Good luck with it Sarah smile.gif
saxlover
Does it match Sarah's tonic doo-da-ling?
nicki_flute
Yes. It seems to have a bit with loads of semiquavers in?
saxlover
I don't know, but Sarah's seems to resemble semiquavers!
nicki_flute
That bit was after her doo daa ing
saxlover
Ah well I don't know then!
weejen

lol!

It's the finale of the Sonata in D (H.561)

The opening is quite distinctive:

D E F# E, E F#G F#, both botted quavers, 2 demisemis and a crotchet... and it has masses of triplets....

It's growing on me but I don't like it much... yet....

The Gaubert IS lovely.

Nicki, kinda glad it ain't just me... I'm hoping it will grow on me!

nicki_flute
Just seen your other topic - get a new piece!
sarah-flute
I have a new piece!

Now I like all my pieces... what a relief! And I can play the new one better already than the old one after a bunch of practice...

Good lesson today, and have several more arranged, so I'm sorted for a while smile.gif
saxlover
New piece??

*gets excited*

nicki_flute

*shakes head*

Poor Prokofiev
sarah-flute
lol... sorry Nat! Maybe after my exam. But the alternative to the CPE is nice... smile.gif
saxlover
Never mind the alternative!! GET PROKOFIEV rolleyes.gif
sarah-flute
Come Christmas... smile.gif

Have you heard it, Nat? The prokofiev?
saxlover
No lol!

What grade 6 pieces are you doing again Sarah?I'm helping a friend do it and she is doing Handel, Rutter Prelude and study 56 from the 76 graded studies book
sarah-flute
I'm doing the JS Bach Siciliano (I must be addicted to Sicilian style music or something...) the Gaubert Madrigal, and the Russell Stokes Jazz Single, number 6.
saxlover
Ok cool. No same pieces there!
sarah-flute
Nope, fraid not. I've played the Prelude though not to exam or performance standard, have the Handel but haven't tried it yet, ditto study 56, actually I probably have had a go at that as I did look at all the studies in the 76 studies book for grade 6, but I don't remember anything about it.
