'Carrying You', also known as tiger moth something or other...is the theme from Laputa Castle in the sky.. smile.gif Its based on Innocent i think..
Noodelz
In that case, I probably have. I remember this site where it had a midi file of it.

Semele
I haven't been following this thread,so apologies if I have gone off topic.

There are some fabulous books entitled All the Tunes You've Ever Wanted to Play! There are 3 in publication...red,blue and green.

I've just purchased the green one and I'm very impressed. It's categorised into Christmas,Classical,Film/TV,Folk/Spirtuals,Jazz/Blues/Latin,Pop/Rock and Shows.

There is a piece by Hisaishi entitled Reprise...from "Spirited Away" and,of course a piece by the one and only, Einaudi...Una Mattina.

All these books are great for sight reading and have fab arrangements.Ian performed Theme from the Godfather for the NW concert and David performed Moon River, both in the blue version.

Well worth investing in.

And...Nyman's The heart Asks Pleasure First...The Piano,is in the green book.
Noodelz
Yeah, I've seen those books before at my local music shop. Never really had a good look at it though.
Semele
They pop up on Ebay occasionally. In music shops they retail at 12.99 each.

Well worth a look for the amount of material you get.

Just had a listen and totally agree with you.
crazy_purple_piano_freak
laugh.gif biggrin.gif Its so HAPPY isnt it?? *grin*
Noodelz
Yep! Especially the cat bus one.

8 more to go...
crazy_purple_piano_freak
Cat bus one?? unsure.gif
Noodelz
Second to last on the totoro section.

5 more to go...
crazy_purple_piano_freak
Not heard that one yet...i find instrumental midi really weird...i really like the 'large tree of the mound forest' one and 'with totoro of the appearance'...LOL i think something went wrong with the translations!! laugh.gif
Noodelz
You should try the Howls Moving castle theme. I love it!

GRRRRRRRR.... I need to post more rubbish,

3 more to go...!
crazy_purple_piano_freak
All of them are quite funny....

The person of the bird
The sky the house emergency which it flies flight (the background it is)
Pig of crimson
(Thing removing princess
The castle where howl moves laugh.gif biggrin.gif
Noodelz
Let's see,

The bird man... then it gets harder...
crazy_purple_piano_freak
I think 'thing removing princess' is princess mononoke because the date looks right and the last one is Howls moving castle. The pig thing is from Pocco Rosso apparently and the sky on is either Kikis delivery service or something else that i cant remember...
Noodelz
Are all of them by Hayao Miyazaki?
crazy_purple_piano_freak
YUP! I think (but am not certain) that the first link in nostalgia wind midi is all Miyazaki/Hisaishi film midi from various movies...and the second link is all Hisaishi's stuff (Works/Piano stories etc..), other films and some Takeshi Kitano stuff (that according to my piano teacher and the film cover thingys I've seen) aren't all too pleasant to watch. ph34r.gif

Just looked him up on IMDB, and one of the films that came up was 'Batoru rowaiaru', or 'Battle Royale'. I remember watching this on TV a year or so ago, and although it was actually pretty entertaining, it's not exactly family viewing!
crazy_purple_piano_freak
When i first told my piano teacher i like Hisaishi, he gave me a weird look as if to say 'what kind of films do YOU watch!!'..lol laugh.gif
Noodelz
Do you mean the not-cartoon ones?
crazy_purple_piano_freak

The cartoon ones are the Miyazaki ones I think...Hisaishi also collaborated with Kitano to make the 'Hisaishi meets Kitano' films which are apparently quite violent...I think 'Hana-Bi' is one of them... ph34r.gif

Probably, it doesn't sound like it would be futured in a cartoon. I probably go this all wrong but isn't Kids Return supposed to be for a violent film as well?
crazy_purple_piano_freak
It is? I checked on this site and its a Kitano film so probably is violent...lol laugh.gif What sort of film is Kikujiro?

WOOOOOOOO!!Half Term!! So i can finally watch HMC and MNT!! biggrin.gif
CrazyDudette22
HMC? I know mnt is my neighbour toronto I think... yay it's half term so I can play more joe hisaishi!!!! AHh we only have 1 piece of school homework this half term...which is design your own hindu god...
Noodelz
I assume HMC is Howls Moving Castle, you've got fun homework. I have to type out some coursework and write a bit on Shakespeare's 'Much ado about nothing'. Some great holiday!

You were both right!! (btw its my neighbour totoro) I also want to watch Schindlers list and HP3 though, dunno if i'll have time.

We did much ado about nothing for our gcse shakespeare thing! Did the cwk and forgot all about it, now have to remember it again as speech exam next month requires a bit on shakepearian blank verse. ph34r.gif

Lolz, I used to make that mistake all the time. Anyone been there out of interest?
crazy_purple_piano_freak
Yes actually, i went when i was 7. When we used to live in Surrey, my Dad had two new job offers: Toronto or Nottingham. He chose Notts coz i didnt want to leave Eng...but we went to Toronto anyway...Niagara Falls, CN tower and all that..was pretty cool. smile.gif
Noodelz
I assume the answer for this question is no but has Hisaishi got a (auto)biography?
crazy_purple_piano_freak
You mean one that's been published? Like in a book?
Noodelz

Yeah. I have to read some more biographies apparently.

Oooohhh, 10th page, where gonna rival the Come in, sit down thread slowly but surely. biggrin.gif
CrazyDudette22
biggrin.gif Yeah we've only got another about 30000 pages to go...

I'm not sure...he might not have yet... I'm loving The Rain right now!! It's fabugroovy!!
crazy_purple_piano_freak
I want the 4 hand version of Appearance of Totoro or something?

Does anyone know how to cure my addiction? I kinda want to learn every Hisaishi piece at once! Problem is i have exam stuff to practise too...so i've decided i'm only going to learn the easy stuff right now (finished dreamy child, innocent, and carrying you, am learning the rain) but I STILL WANNA LEARN EVERY SINGLE HISAISHI PIECE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!! ph34r.gif
*sigh* will have to wit until after g8 to learn his entire works.. sad.gif
Noodelz
I have this wierd ambition of buying every Hisaishi CD and learning all of his pieces. It could happen, when I'm gray and old, I'll be safe in the knowledge that I have every single song and can play every piece.
crazy_purple_piano_freak
Here are all the Internet biographys i could be bothered to find when i googled it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Hisaishi
(Interesting..look at the links at the bottom of the page too)

http://users.pandora.be/soundtrack-fm/Revi...oe_Hisaishi.htm (a short one)

There were some more, but really brief..(i never knew the Quincy thing!!) laugh.gif

crazy_purple_piano_freak
LOL Noodelz!! I was going to ask for the entire works of Joe Hisaishi this Christmas actually but then my (equally obsessed) Hisaishi mate pointed out how much it would cost.. ph34r.gif Ouch.
Noodelz
Even if Hisaishi did get a (auto)biography, I doubt it would be released here.
crazy_purple_piano_freak
I love Hisaishi and all that but to be honest, he's not famous enough here to have a best selling autobiography.
Noodelz
*Goes to Speakers Corner and puts up a big fat sign saying 'You stupid people, Hisaishi is the best, you've never even heard of him before have you eh, eh'?*

The newspapers should pick this up pretty quickly, it will be on the news and before you know it, Hisaishi-mania has taken over Britain.

cool.gif
crazy_purple_piano_freak
hmmm...well...you never know!! I spread it on here a bit (to about 3 people but hey! The more the merrier) And if that Hisaishi lookalike dude can go and spread the word too...then maybe... laugh.gif ph34r.gif happy.gif wacko.gif
Noodelz
Perhaps if all of us keep on texting Classic FM with:
'Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi, Hisaishi'.

It could work...

crazy_purple_piano_freak
They'd ban us...or do what they did with Einaudi, like play some random tune or keep playing the same piece by him OR mis name the piece they've just played. dry.gif
Noodelz
How about going to the studio and dropping a whole load of Hisaishi CDs on the table.
