I wonder how?

a bit of sound and look, but also difficulty for me.

I chose some because I liked the sound- such as oboe, but saxophone and percussion just struck me as cool instruments to play.

What do you mean by choosing an instrument? do you mean choosing it to play originally, or choosing a new instrument when you need a new one?

When I chose my new flute, as an up grade from my old one, it was actually the fact that it had the most similar mechanism to my old one that sold it for me.

It still took me a while to adapt to it, I had to slow down my scales and pieces for a while, and was suddenly alarmed to discover I had inadvertantly been using recorder fingerings in certain scales and pieces, that my new flute wouldn't let me get away with- the hazards of developing bad habits!

people always forget: ease of play!
