today i had my first oboes lesson (well just a little try on it for 15 minutes but cant complain it was completely free) and we did the notes b a and g and also found an oboe to use from our music service (today i had to use my teachers spare one)

very nice and I hope that you like it. Good luck. I also play but I had to save up for an instrument. My parents helped with the money.

That made me laugh. I just finished Pino's book about the clarinet. At one time it was the oboe that was played everywhere. The clarinet was 'unusual'. Very unpopular for a long time. Very expensive.
Now it's the opposite.
What a funny old world.

I've ordered a new oboe about a month ago. The company said it should be arriving next week. It's a Howarth S45 with a third octave key. I'm so excited.
