Trying to find sheet music /album for the long version of this song...Richard Harris ( fine actor ) style...I hasten to add not the Donna Summer version disco thingy.

I reckon chords are pretty easy, but haven't got time to sit down without interruption,to work them out. The usual primary chords...but driving makes it difficult.

It is in 3 parts,so the abridged version will not suffice.

Done the usual searches, but nothing has come up.

Thanks.

I have it on LP, unfortunately I haven't got a cassette deck any more so I wouldn't be able to record it for you.

Try looking in second hand record shops, Richard Harris LP's will usually be in the bargain bin !

Thanks for your help,Ian.

I was after the sheet music or in a sheet music album.Sorry I wasn't too clear on that.

I've got the sheet music and its a great piece to play on the Piano! I'm sure it inspired John Miles' "Music" which is very similar in style and content.

What version have you got? I think at my mother's there is the Donna Summer version and I've had a look at that musicnotes website, but it's the DS version. I can see where John Miles got his inspiration from. I have that and it's in about 5 sharps I think.

BUT...found this on Ebay.com...sounds interesting.

"MacArthur Park," is composed and written by Jimmy Webb, and arranged by Bob Burroughs and Gregg Sewell. It is for SSA Chorus and Piano with Optional Oboe and Brass Quartet Accompaniment. This is the piano score with the vocal and oboe lines in smaller print. There are no markings in the music. "

This is something like I'm looking for. But there are a few bids on it,up in an hour or so,listed with other music I don't want and from the States.

Can't decide what to do.

Ian...Yes the lyrics are a bit crazy, but doing a google search there is a site discussing them.

But these are sweet:

"There will be another song for me
For I will sing it
There will be another dream for me
Someone will bring it
I will drink the wine while it is warm
And never let you catch me looking at the sun
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
You'll still be the one

I will take my life into my hands and I will use it
I will win the worship in their eyes and I will lose it
I will have the things that I desire
And my passion flow like rivers through the sky
And after all the loves of my life
After all the loves of my life
I'll be thinking of you
And wondering why "

Awwwwww...off for a cry now smile.gif

The version I have is the Piano Solo version of about 4-5 pages long. Its about Grade 6-7 standard probably. It's not the Donna Summer version anyway. It may even have a picture of Richard Harris on the front. I'll have to dig it out.....hang on.

OK the edition I have is by Eaton Music Ltd, has a brown cover and is 7 pages long and is quite a tough piece to play...words and music by Jimmy Webb 1968.
It starts in Dm and modulates to Gm when it reaches the "double tempo" section on page 5.

That sounds wonderful. Do you want to sell it?

Just done a search on Eaton music...going to phone them. Fingers crossed it might just still be available.
