Email a few mail order companies.
If there are any specialist woodwind shops in Gloucester I haven't heard of them.
You could try Second Wind in Cheltenham.
what is the difference in oboe reeds?
the length of the complete reed (from tip to the end of the bocal which is the tube it's tied on),
the width at the tip and the complete shape of the cane at its tip + the bocal (sometimes called a staple) and the thickness of the cane.
I doubt a modern oboe reed would fit a baroque oboe. I may be wrong.
Looking at a pic of a cor anglais, oboe d'amore or bassoon reed shows how different these reeds are. A baroque reed may also be cut to tune the instrument to a different pitch than the (A=440) we use today. I've never seen a baroque reed but I'll bet they are differently shaped from an oboe reed in subtle ways.
You would have to get one from a reed-maker which makes them expensive. You would also specify the strength. As a beginner you would want a soft reed. Any member of the oboe family can be difficult until you get enbouchure and breathing right. With "double-reed" instruments, the reed IS the mouthpiece.
