Hi everybody,

I've been developing a lot of allergies lately (call me paranoid, but I think my immune system is out to get me).

But I'm still saving up for my wooden recorders.

Which woods are safe for people with allergies, and which woods should I avoid (I know palisander is one)?

Especially - is ebony safe? I've still got my heart set on the ebony sopranino...

all i can tell you is that ebony dust is carcinogenic which is why workers in ebony always wear masks. this stopped piano makers using ebony for black notes ages ago. but i doubt it would mean ebony as a finished product would be unsafe. there's enough of it about.

I'm afraid I can't answer your question but...
