Hi!
I am writing my university dissertation on British wind band music in the early 20th century. I'm having problems at the moment with finding sources, as the composers I'm concentrationg on - Vaughan Williams and Holst - have lots of books on them but none of them seem to mention much about the wind band music.
Does anyone have any information on this topic, or can you recommend any books or sources?
Any input will be gratefully received!

Hi Sflute. I found this book on amazon by doing 'wind band+holst' search.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1...2074513-3975068(very expensive, but maybe your library could get it in for you)
Try similar searches on here or other book websites. Do you have the 'British Wind Band Classics' CD? It would be absolutely the thing for your purposes.

^^
Thanks a lot. This is the second recommendation I have had for this book, how I didn't come across it in my research is a mystery to me!
Yes I do have the CD, it's on my iPod on perpetual repeat at the moment!

We played Williams' "Flourish for Wind Band" in...well...wind band, and it was pretty amazing!
