I do but not quite like yours.
I play as rehearsal pianist for our National Youth Theatre and second keyboard in the band which plays at the show. We are doing Annie in a couple of weeks .. then Seussical the Musical which is awesome music to play.
I have also accompanied a friend on piano for a singing competition ( nothing very major) last week. That was my first go at doing that ( practised with her a lot) and it was good fun. Just think if she goes on to be a famous singer I will be able to say I have been her accompanist

ummm....it was a transcription of the G minor Flute Sonata BWV1020, i havent really started that yet..im focusing more on the Binge and Poulenc
saxlover
Oct 2 2005, 12:34 AM
Yeah I've played that..and the Binge
GoneChopinBachSoon
Oct 2 2005, 12:35 AM
since i dont have an oboist at hand..i'll have to transcribe his oboe sonata for sax, like the Telemann

Oct 2 2005, 12:37 AM
Do you have time though? Even to do all this accompanying? With A-levels to do and other important practice.
GoneChopinBachSoon
Oct 2 2005, 12:39 AM
i have A level music lessons i could do practise in. the sets very small and we seem to know what we're doing so we can afford delays i guess (to put it into perspective, the two of us who did GCSE music last year started the course the January before the exams and we both got A*)

Oct 2 2005, 12:40 AM
Talent obviously just oozes out of you.
GoneChopinBachSoon
Oct 2 2005, 12:42 AM
well what harm will missing one lesson do? besides...i'll need to practise 1 or 2 of these for my A level course anyway!!!

Oct 2 2005, 12:43 AM
Accompanying is part of your course?
GoneChopinBachSoon
Oct 2 2005, 12:45 AM
well...playing in ensemble is yes...e.g. if i accompanied a saxophonist playing the Bach BWV1020 Sonata...thats an ensemble performance for me that gets marked

Oct 2 2005, 12:46 AM
So wouldn't it be better just to work on that?

Oct 2 2005, 08:22 AM
If you can play the Binge Rondo accomapniment, I'd be very impressed. Both the head of music and sax teacher at our school struggled with it.

Oct 2 2005, 02:17 PM
Fast too!!
GoneChopinBachSoon
Oct 2 2005, 02:23 PM
see, i havent got anyone who can play that sonata (well..i do but he's a busy guy working at his LRSM) plus i havent really worked at the piano part
well...i can always give the rondo of the Binge a whirl even though my music teacher (also head of music) who can sight read just about any accompaninent (even the Creston Rapsodie

) and struggled a fair bit. the sax teacher would NEVER be able to do it...he aint good as a pianist...the fool

I can tell you how to improve your Sarabande - use a metronome to learn the counting. The tempo is not consistent, and neither is your pulse. You need to work on subdividing the beat into duplets and triplets. (And don't play it on a sunny day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a few things:
1) Don't bother insulting me, I won't take it to heart anyway!
2 you don't have to say you can play a piece to earn our respect, if you deserve respect we'll give you it anyway. ie, You're a much better flautist than me, so I respect you for that.
3)Can you please not swear in every sentence when you get annoyed, you'll only end up being moderated.
